You're blaming the doctrine for what, in fact, is a twisted form that can't be deduced from the New Testament. When God established the Christian faith, He was quite pointed that it was not to be a private gangster club that seeks its own revenge; He promised that there would be a judgment that He alone would carry out. Revenge "Christianity" is clearly the doctrine of men, not of the Bible. Go ahead... get red in the face blaming the Bible for a doctrine which it does not preach.

Why are Jews held responsible for the decision of a puppet court of the Roman installed non-Judean King of Judea and the punishment metted out to someone considered a threat by the Romans?

The Jewish responsibility in the matter (in an earthly sense) arose from the call of the crowd to crucify. If you recall from the gospel accounts, Pontius Pilate didn't want to kill Jesus, and in fact appeared to believe Jesus was a harmless character and tried to reason with the crowd, but went with the crowd in the end. Pontius Pilate would have been removed by the Romans if he had bucked the crowd, precisely because Rome hated domestic unrest and held the local officials responsible for it.

That having been said, a Christianity which focuses exclusively on that scene is a warped one. It misses the point of Christianity which is not to be an "earthly-Jesus club" but rather to believe on the eternal Son of God and be saved.
