The bureaucratic structure which has grown up in the FBI has also contributed to the problem.
I am unwilling to tar the whole organization, but I do think some of the management need to go. I did hear Ashcroft say that they had gotten rid of a few people.
The other reason they may not want the FBI in this is because we STILL don't know how many spies are there. Since Hansen was in charge of much of the vetting of people, there could be a few moles still in the Bureau.
We have such short memories. Reno tore the agency apart. Thank you for reminding me about the history.
I would also direct you to the liberal whining currently going on about the education bill, which was not my favorite. I of course did not read the entire bill, just like most of the people on Free Republic. Apparently Senator Kennedy did not read the bill either, because the standards are being griped about by the NEA as impossible to meet, and if the schools don't meet the standards, THEY DON'T GET THE MONEY. Har!
Has everything to do with Clinton's gargantuan ego and his high-risk (liberal) lifestyle. As a conservative, Bush is
psychologically centered. Doesn't need the stroking and gratification bobble-headed Clinton could not live without.
Can't do much reading when you're underwater......
And he lets the criticism roll right off of his back. Anyone who says that this president is poll driven is blind. Even now the pundits are going on and on about Bush's flip flop on this, as if he slapped this plan together at the last minute in order to distract our attention from the intelligence hearing.
Anything good can be used by evil, that doesn't mean that we can't do those things which will benefit us because someday it could be used against us. The simple fact is, as proven by recent months, we're a whole lot smarter than ANY government. Remember, government is us and it only has the power WE give it. We're a free people, it's our nature, it's our very soul. No dictator could ever take us over because if they ever did they would end up with nothing. Our success, our prosperity, our innovation is all a result of freeing the human mind to create. Without that, there is no innovation, there is no progress, there is no prosperity.
Besides, we would be such an unbearable handful that NO dictator would survive it. We'd simply find a way around anything they could come up with. We'd be such a royal pain in the backside they'd give up.......or die.
Bush is approaching this government like a White Knight (men who save companies and the good people who work for them). The first months are spent assessing. Those who go in a make big moves right off the bat are dangerous, those who assess the problems will succeed. There are a lot of people who are very good at making themselves look good. There are tons of quiet people who never get the credit, but do most of the work. Anyone thinking of making changes has to figure out which is which. Looks like that is exactly what they've done here.
Dowd and Frank Rich, among others, have been peddling this line. This story in the Post will blow holes in that.
The Rats are left with the Same Old Same Old.
Now that the new Department is well on its way to completion, time for the Next Phase, one that Bush and Cheney have been beating on.
On to Baghdad.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
The History Channel ran a special on D Day in the evening about the incredible secrecy and miss info that was used.
If the secret had not been maintained re the real landing area and the miss info not used, our brave men might have been defeated in that critical landing. History could have been changed forever and not for the good.
Too many phoney conservatives and of course the rats from the 1960/70's who hated America and our military then, hate America and our military even more today. They don't just leak secrets. They let them pour like water over Niagra Falls.
This is another great job by the stealth president and his people whom know how to keep secrets.
Can't do much reading when you're underwater......
Kennedy can read? Come on, you must be kidding!
He can so read. His fave book is The Bridges of Chappaquiddick.
