Many similarities in cases, except, the Ramseys' put their little girl in front of the camera, in heavy make-up and alluring costumes, and trained her to play the vixen. Also, I don't know if the Smarts called their attorney and refused to be interviewed by PD.

On a more serious note-- if the perp is known to Elizabeth-- there ought to be an actual photo and ID available, very soon.

All of the people I've seen on TV being interviewd have been close relatives of the Smart family, no lawyers in the bunch. Thanks heavens. And the police have said the whole family has been very cooperative with them. I never understood the Ramsey's behavior, if I had a missing/murdered child, I would be cooperating with the police in a big way...

I have a real problem with that drawing - it is almost a cartoon thug. I'm still wondering if the 9 year old is covering.

When I first heard this story, it sounded to me like something a 14yr old and a 9yr old might cook up. Now, after 4 days, I'm not so sure. Still seems very bizarre.

A total of seven (7) bedrooms but Elizabeth and her 9 year old sister shared a room. How many children do the Smarts have?

There are six children in the family. The home was undergoing remodeling and apparently the two girls were sharing a bedroom because of that. There are four boys in the family.

Not good. Lots of strangers coming and going throughout the whole house. Do you know how long the remodeling has been in progress? Wonder if any of the workers are unaccounted for.

I live in SLC. This morning when I went up to Red Butte Canyon to walk my dogs, I was turned away by police. They said that they had a tip about Elizabeth and Red Butte. They had police on horse back and four or five vehicles filled with people going up.

Red Butte Canyon eventually meets up with Emigration, the canyon that police say was a dud lead -- that the tipster's credibility was questionable.

I don't know what any of this may mean, but the officer told me that they were hoping they would find Elizabeth and that they would find her alive.

Wow, thanks for the report. I am sooo hopeful they find Elizabeth alive. Have you heard that the police want to talk to a man that she may have known?

It hasn't been reported how long the house has been under renovation. I do know that they had an open house a couple of weeks ago. The police have a list of everyone who has gone through the house, and that is being looked at very closely.

One other thing I just heard on KSL radio is that the police are making a request for more volunteers. I'd go up, but I can't today. I may try tomorrow after church.

I've only heard about the guy who's picture they are circulating now. Is that the one you mean?

It's hard to imagine that composite sketch being to helpful, but stranger things have happened.

I wonder where they want the volunteers? The officer told me that they were closing off Red Butte because they didn't want to through off the K-9's with other scents.

Red Butte also has that research area that it is pretty much pristine wilderness. Nobody is supposed to go up there, (though people do). It would take a lot of people to search that area. I'll check KSL's site and see if they are saying where they want volunteers to search.

Go for it. It was posted at one of the search-and-rescue team sites where I'm active, and that's what they're there for. It's a pretty cartoonish picture, not too surprising when based at least in part on a very young girl's description. But it may do some good.

I would assume at Shriner's Hospital. That is where the volunteers sign up. The news report I heard didn't say.
