"Do I have an opinion on the topic you raised that didn't involve prayers? Yes, but I'm not expressing it here, because it doesn't belong here. I'm sorry, but mixing the two works against the thrust of this forum." I respect your opinion on the matter.
This is my first "other than sourced news" post in 7 months or so. And, my intentions were to post it in general, but my tired, overworked brain slipped.
Thanks for your regards. May the Lord look over you and yours.

Praying for this precious baby girl.
Her soul is safe in the hands of God, He loves the little ones so much.
The outcome is in His hands.

Hey, neighbor...
May God bless you and yours in this, your time of great sorrow. Be safe and secure in the knowledge that God has His plan ever in motion, and that you do His will. He will keep all of you safe in His loving arms, and you will find His peace. Amen.
Be well, my friend, and we'll talk soon...

Regarding the last question in your original post ... MistyCA is correct. The hospital has to cover their butts. I'm sure there were legal issues involved with the fact that the parents were minors. It is imperative for EVERY ONE OF US to craft a "living will" specifying what life-support measures we wish to receive, and under which conditions we do not want further maintanence measures. This is an unbelievably crucial family matter that everyone needs to work out in advance with clear heads. Take the issue out the hands of your kids - you decide when the "plug" should be pulled. In the case of a newborn with parents who can't be held to a contract, that's a more complex issue. Lawsuits are an unfortunate, and unbelievably expensive, burden throughout the healthcare/insurance industry.

Thanks for your insightful comments, Arnie.
To all the freepers who replied :
I tried to thank everyone for their replies, I apologize if I left anyone out.
This thread helped fill my sleepless hours awaiting the call with something other than sadness. And I'm sure that every Prayer will help ease the families grief.
Thanks everyone.

Hang in there, Kermit! Your cuz is lucky to have a guy like you watching out for him. Don't let him be superman. He's allowed to be angry, sad and confused. If he's not, there's trouble.

Darryl has shown grief and isn't trying to be Superman. He just tries to be strong for his Mother and sisters, who have a hard time with death as it is.
Although I hope that my words do help, what will bring Darryl through is his faith, family, and friends.
Myself, I'm fine. I handle death a little better than most.(I try to think anyway). I know that baby is in the Lord's hands. I am more concerned for my Aunt,(Grandmother)than anything else.

I have made a reminder that after all this is over with, I will treat Darryl to a free round of golf. I've been promising him for months....

Prayers lifted for the family, my friend.
As far as the wishes of the parents not being honored, that is something that they will have to deal with later on. What a sad, sad story.
