I blew it...I left on a two week vacation Thursday the 27th and packed everything but the targets...they're sitting on top of my safe...I will be returning on the 11th, after the due date...It's probably for the best, I'm in S.D. and the wind hasn't stopped blowing since I got here...I hate to ask for an extension since we've had so long. I will mail the unused targets back with a donation to cover the original postage...thanks for including me in this one. Sorry I couldn't make it.

I shot the match today. I went to a range where I had shot pistol before because I didn't want to shoot at my lease and worry about the mud. They wouldn't let me shoot because I forgot about their rules toward "full metal jacket" military ammo.
No big deal. I drove to the range where the owner is like part of my family.
After sighting in, I shot the standing with my 10/22 and my first reaction was, who's the $%@&*% who said, no scope. Oh, yeah, that would be me.
Standing wasn't that bad, but I didn't think about the wind and my natural point of aim. Oops.
Sitting wasn't as good as standing but at least I was toward the target.
Prone was all right but the 8MM, like someone said, pushed me around a little. That was my fault. I like using a light hold so I don't shake and I started out wrong. I have a high power match tomorrow and at least I can go back to using my jacket and poodle shooter.
The guy next to me was shooting a FN-FAL and I almost shot skeet with his empty brass. I yelled at him for standing up and shooting rapid because he was hitting the ground away from the stands and I hope no rounds went over the berm.
I would talk about the heat but the last time I did that, I mentioned it to a person from Arizona. He wasn't impressed.

Three more days to shoot the match and mail the targets back.

Can you clarify scoring for me? I need all the help I can get here. I shot the match this morning. Here are my observations;
The sights on the 10/22 are crap, even at bench rest. I'll never shoot it again without the scope, even at short range. I used a Marlin Mod. 1895 levergun in 45-70 Gov't with a 22" barrel. I sighted it in at bench rest and I am so impressed with the sights, I may not put the scope back on. It's not a long range gun anyway. Of course, this good benchrest accuracy didn't necessarily translate to the same freehand, but I did have one target I am real proud of.
The biggest handicap to me was not being able to spot between shots. You just plastered the paper (which I missed more than once) and hoped for the best. Handguns are my passion. Now I know why.
BTW, I can't blame my performance on my recent eye injury and I doubt the flyers were ammo related.

Usually anything outside the circles is a miss so there won't be a 4 on the score. Anything touching an inside ring gets the higher score. There was another ring in the center. I take it that was the X ring. I'll let CapandBall have the final say so on this.
I really missed my spotter scope. I had to get rid of it after sighting in. I was afraid I would look because of habit.
On the other hand, you can't ask that rabbit where the shot went so you can elevate.

All my targets went out on Saturday 7/6 by priority mail. This match has motivated me to consider contacts instead of glasses...trying to squint through these bifocals and keep a good sight picture ain't easy. My scores definitely won't win but I'm very happy to have had the opportunity to shoot in this match, and I'm ready to do the next one!

I'm heading to freeper 11b3's spread tomorrow to shoot up my targets then I'll drop them off at the general mail facility so they will be to your place by Thursday afternoon.

Yep, that was me and the Army Band....

Today and tomorrow is the last days to shoot and send in the targets. I hope everyone has fun.
I had a big laugh when I saw my targets. It was either that or cry.
To: Shooter 2.5
Like shooter2.5 noted, scores are between 5-10, any thing outside the 5 ring is a "M" (miss). The X ring inside the 10 is for tie-breakers & bragging rights.
The targest have been rolling in, anything mailed by tomorrow should get to me comming this weekend or early next week. As soon as I got them all I'll post the results on this thread, and then the post-shoot analysis and commentaries can begin! ;^)
Anyone who knows they wont get there targets in the mail by tomorrow please let me know (a few already have) so I wont be waiting/looking for them.

Cap. I just returned from the Post Office. The targets were sent Priority Mail.
To: CapandBall
My targets got mailed U.S. Priority this morning. I used your return mailing label as the "TO" address, and meant to send you some $ to cover the cost you incurred in mailing the targets out. Could you freep mail me your address and I'll follow up with a contribution.
Thanks,

Looks like Lion Den Dan and I are going to have to miss this one ... and after all that "stuff" about us Kentucky shooters, too...
I had to go out of state early on for a couple of weeks, and when I got back, Dan had to leave - he just got back today. I'm waiting to see if he can do it tomorrow, but I've got my doubts.
Dang! Unless everyone is blowing smoke, it looks like we might have had a chance, too. :/
Let us know if there's any kind of one or two day extension...

I'm gotta be a hard ass and say what my 5th grade teacher said to me when I asked for an extention - "It wouldnt be fair to the rest of the class".
You can send in targets late, and I'll post any late scores noted as such if I receive them before I post the final match results, but it will diminish your braggin rights.
-C&B-
To: CapandBall
That's not a problem, and perfectly understood. In fact, it sounds a whole lot more fair than anything my old drill instructor ever had to say in similar circumstances. :)
Right now, it appears that we'll be shooting on the 10th, one day late. However you choose to handle that is strictly your business, and the rules were established in the very beginning.
Now ... bragging rights. Since when did facts have anything to do with brag? LOL!

I'll provide a little wiggle room here (but I'm
still a hard-ass!):
Any targets I recieve by this saturday will be counted as on time - regardless of postmark date. You can shoot friday and send them by private courier.
Any targets received anytime with a postmark of on or before the 9th will be counted.
Any targets received after this saturday with a postmark later than the 9th will go in the tardy column.
-C&B-
To: CapandBall
That's more than fair, C&B. We'll shoot Wednesday morning (the 10th), and get the targets on the way to you that same day. Will also understand if the others don't think that should be allowed. After all, this is all for fun and no money, right? :)

You being in Kentucky, odds are good your targets will arrive in 1-2 days using Priority mail.
It is all for fun, the only bet$ I'd make is that I'll not be getting high score.
