Too bad for SW that the priest in question was Anglican, not Catholic.

Interpreting the bible is not my job. I have enough jobs in life and I like to leave that one where it belongs in the capable hands of the papacy established for just that purpose and a number You are still living in the middle ages when it was ILLEGAL for a layperson to even own a bible let alone read it. In those days, the RCC murdered people who wanted to read the bible for themselves (ever hear of William Tyndale). Perhaps if you started THINKING FOR YOURSELF and READING THE BIBLE FOR YOURSELF, you would learn something. God gave you a brain - USE IT. It's foolish to put your eternal destiny in the hands of another man. Jesus spoke His words for ALL TO READ, not just a catholic priest.

I think it would also be known as Gnosticism, which the whole New Testament sets out to refute.

In Post #39, you said:
biblical truths are spiritually discerned not intellectually discerned.
Then, in post #65, you said:
Perhaps if you started THINKING FOR YOURSELF and READING THE BIBLE FOR YOURSELF, you would learn something. God gave you a brain - USE IT.
OK, sport, which one is it? Are the truths in the Bible intellectually discerned, or spirituall discerned? You've completely contradicted yourself here.

This simply reinforces my point about the decay of the RCC. Thanks for the reinforcement. That was false, uncharitable and uncalled-for. You owe the RC's an apology for that one.

I do not apologize for telling the TRUTH. Apparently, some on this thread can't handle the truth.

One must read the scriptures before one can understand the spiritual truth contained in them. That's why a bible exists - for people to read and understand the spiritual truths in it. It is God that opens ones eyes to spiritual truth, but you have to read it first. The bible says that the Bereans searched the scriptures daily. Apparently, the Bereans weren't catholic - they read the bible for themselves.
