Some people can't see art as art, but have to make it politically correct.

Being that White men invented damn near everything, I see nothing wrong with it.

Obviously Dr? Abalos has a very narrow view of history.

If the mural had included slave ships bringing 'em over, he would have been mad too.
You just cannot win with the blacks.

"It still is unfortunate that this is semi-permanent.And its unfortunate that you are semi-literate.
Go paint your own G-D mural!

It's the Hispanics he is concerned about. He threw in the remark about women and blacks just to make it look like he was concerned about them, too.
He has done more damage to our school by insisting that we accept 20 (almost 21) year olds into day school in the ESL program.
Then they don't go to class, cut school entirely and then drop out again.
These kids also get free lunches, generally collect some sort of public assistance (housing, etc). They also deal in drugs--but let's close our eyes to that.

Bill Plank is a wonderful artist--has won awards--and is a great teacher, too. I wonder if he means that it can or should be painted over if it doesn't satisfy Abolos' "objectives"

Maybe the artist should included a scene of drug dealers on a ghetto street corner.

"Ironically the majority here represents a fairly European perspective."Ironically, professors who use ironically that way should be put in irons.

Actually, the artist ought to have included teenage girls in very tight sweaters and short skirts.

Ironically the majority here represents a fairly European perspective Why, imagine that! If I didnt know better, Id think that this country was founded by Europeans, who drew great influence from Europe. And that for the major part of our history, people of European ancestry dominated the United States.
How could he overlook the huge contributions made to modern art by the Myans with their
uhmm
you know, Myan stuff. Or the !Kung and their awe inspiring
err
clicking noises?
Why, the simple fact that the artist doesnt believe that all cultures are equally as evolved and have made equal contributions deserving equal recognition should stand as undeniable proof that hes a racist. After all, one mans lunar landing is another mans bone through the nose- theyre all equal.

Come on now. Let's be reasonable. We HAVE to recognize all the great contributions of our third-world brothers ... like ... uhm ... well ... and there's ... well they invented ... uhm ... well you know their greatest contribution to our nation is ... uhm ... "Well you damned white honkey bigot!"

What is this, a double barf bag night on FR?
I'm loving this summation:
The ultimate good of the artwork's criticisms, according to Dr. Abalos, is that it will raise questions and open debate. He said that he hoped people would rethink basic assumptions and preconceived notions about history, but added: "It still is unfortunate that this is semi-permanent."
Oh, that's right, Professor Abalos. I forgot you pinhead liberal sociology professors subscribe to the notion that history has absolutely NOTHING to do with facts.
Semi-permanent? What does this guy think he's going to do? Put it to a vote on the municipal level this November?
