Fox News reports postal vice president Azeezaly Jaffer said "the bombs were accompanied by a note threatening the government. " - any more on that ?
To: Free Vulcan
Ronald Radosh, a guy who used to be a communist, wrote a little about Iowa City, The State University of Iowa, etc in one of his recent books.

I saw a string, one of those 9-volt batteries, and a coil inside there. So I shut it up real quick, Boyer said. I didnt know what a bomb looks like. Eyewitnesses at the scene said the mail carrier later opened the mailbox from the passenger side of a sport utility vehicle, and the bomb detonated. The explosion severely injured the mail carriers arm, eyewitnesses said. The explosion drilled a shotgun-sized hole in the door of the vehicle.
This is pretty serious and poweful. Not just shennanigins of a teenage boy.

Yep, you're right. But here is one by a teenager, only reported at one site in Los Angeles (I found it first at an Iowa site - go figure...)
Evacuation at a Local School Due to Pipe Bomb Scare
INGLEWOOD Students at Inglewood High were evacuated on Monday after one of their schoolmates allegedly threw a pipe bomb on to the roof.
According to reports a sheriff's bomb squad later detonated the working device.
It was also reported that authorities were probably going to go to the home of a detained student and search for more explosives there.
The object was discovered late this morning at the campus at 231 S. Grevillea Ave.

In that area, it's more like spoiled-brat Jewish communist supporters of anyone who wants to kill Israeli or American 'imperialists.'
In other words, home-grown pinkos, like the Unibomber.
A muslim extremist would probably have made bombs which were designed to kill from the get-go, more explosive or a packed with nails. These mailbox bombs seem more like they are primarily for effect, though there is a remote possibility they could kill, as the unibomber's eventually did.

"In that area, it's more like spoiled-brat Jewish communist supporters of anyone who wants to kill Israeli or American 'imperialists.' "Maybe, maybe not. Just because it didn't happen in NY and wasn't a 767, 747, or other "large weapon" doesn't mean it wasn't peace loving muslims.
I don't know where you live but I'm in the midwest (not far from this area) and there are more damn Somalians, arabs, (muslims in general) than most people would ever imagine.

Quite a bit of driving, 6 to 8 hours round trip, then add stopping time to plant them. It may indeed be more than one person, especially since people are finding them all in a short period. To briefly play Devil's Advocate...
Wouldn't many of the people look in the mailbox at about the same time of day, such as when they get home from work or picking up the kids at school?
Possible scenario: guy drives around in the morning, makes his deliveries. Bombs found in afternoon.

Big farming and dairy country. My wife's relatives are about 50 miles east of there.
If it is an organized group of terrorists, my money would be on the ALF's/ELF's targeting dairy farmers, or pig/hog farmers or cattle farmers. There is a lot of beef raised in this area or fed corn before they become our steaks and prime ribs.
