yes because we are sort of the next Klamath Falls....the reason being, as we do not suffer like those wonderful folks are suffering, we have and do suport them, yet this is attacks all over this great nation, and it is no longer a war on the west, it has truly moved east!

Theyve been brought up to believe that government should be respected
respected like an angry rattlesnake that has his beady eyes on you..
or respected like a hungry shark that smells blood and you are the only thing in the water..
what can be done here?
whine to the bureaucrats and hope they feel like giving them 'table scraps'?
take it up the tailpipe?
this sort of bullsh!t really makes me mad, and i dont even own land at the moment..
a land patent signed by JAMES MONROE for christsakes

Lets see now. These people have probably been voting straight Dem. their entire lives. Dems are the party of radical eco nuts. So why are these people now complaining? You/we get what we vote for. Unfortunately we get alot more than we bargain for. The rich, liberal elite have now discovered West Virginia and are going to turn it into a theme park. Sort of.

You are basically right when this state has basically voted for Democrats for a long, long time. But here is the underlying reason....this basically happened because of the mines and steel factories and the horrific occurrences of the early 1900's. See the movie Matewan to get a better idea. Children of these miners are still alive and voting as our their children.....the democrats then were for the working people, and WV was Coal and Coal mines!
These folks are so fiercely democrats because they do not understand what the democratic party has become! It is not because they are slow, stupid, or ignorant, they remember the hunger, the land grabs by the owners of the mines, and the murders of their family members. Believe me, I never asked for my home to be stolen by the federal government! I did ask that the roadway leading to my home have the potholes that could swallow a Mac truck fixed and dangerous "tight" areas widend to safely allow 2 vehicles to pass each other! Traffic to the area is increasing every year because of Sandstone Falls---type in New River Gorge National River Area----you will then see whose fault this all really is, it (the land grabing) was all in the works in 1978!
We don't mind tourists, shoot we like to show off the beauty of it and our homes around it, but people that do not know the road have driven into the river, and rolled over the hills! That is why the road needs "fixed" fixed only, not turned into a scenic parkway!

This is what you can do to help:
In today's Hinton News, Doug Tolbert, Coordinator of the New River Parkway Authority is begging for letters IN support of the New River Parkway! This Parkway is a road now that can only stretch 10 miles, as the rest has been put on hold "indefinitely", yet one that would strip private land owners of all of our rights, cost all tax payers untold millions in land acquisitions and construction/maintenance fees! This roadway is truly a road to no where!
He is quoted as saying that due too a "few people that oppose" this parkway, that the area stands to loose federal funds! Who cares if it strips landowners and tax payers of their hard earned rights and monies!
We find it amazing and wonderful that he is making these pleas in our local paper on the account of a "few"! How wonderful that a "few" can move mountains!
Please contact the following representative of the West Virginia Department of Highways requesting a "No-Build Alternative"!
Director James E. Sothen Phone: 304-558-2830 Fax: 304-558-0605 Email: jsothen@dot.state.wv.us
You may also wish to send cc to Robert C. Byrd: senator_byrd.senate.gov to Jay Rockefeller senator@rockefeller.senate.gov and to Nick Joe Rahall NRAHALL@mail.house.gov
You all have a say in this proposed project because it will be 80% federally funded! Your tax dollars at work to steal homes and heritages form American families.
You may also wish to send letters to the editor of the Hinton News: HINTON1000@aol.com
The land you save may well be your own!

augh. This Tolbert guy sounds like either a moron or a newcomer or related to somebody in the construction business(es) that will benefit from this road. Does he stand to gain financially from this?

He is the coordinator for the New River Parkway Authority! Heehhehe it is his job to promote the land grab! That is why he is in the paper pleading for letters for support! He makes comments that the WVDOH have been "inundated" with letters from citizens all across America against the parkway, "even though they may not ever visit the area" (Hahaha, ain't that the point Doug? To increase "visitors" to the area????) LOL LOL and the reason these "few" folks have sent their letters, is because it is 80% federally funded and they have the right! Doug understands this, knows it , and hates it!
He is having to plead for letters to suport it! I suggest he is in the "few" that want it! hahaha
