After 30 minutes she said, "You couldn't GIVE me one of those! They don't carry the local weather forecasts on The Weather Channel!".

Yep. That is their problem. Being balloonists we are extremely weather dependent. We have satellite, and they don't do the local forecasts on satellite. That was extremely distressing when we first got satellite.

I personally just love watching Dave Schwartz. He is the funniest

weather

guy

on

television.

And he doesn't even know it.

I don't like the increased reliance on features to fill air time, nor am I interested in the personal lives and hobbies of the on-air people. I mean, do we really care about meteorologist Jim Cantore learning to hang glide?

He is the beefcake of the Weather Channel.

The Weather Channel is my number one choice for background noise when I'm working at home. It's just on all the time. Plus, Sheryl Crow has immortalized the channel on her latest album... a fabulous song called, 'The Weather Channel'. Worth the listen.

The weather Channel is not the same it used to be because it became overly commercialized!

THEY PUT WAY TOO MANY COMMERCIALS ON!

Any other all weather channel could put them under the table if they went 24 hour!

Who wants to watch commercials?

We want raw data, and less fluff and advertising!

The Weather Channel ~ by Sheryl Crow

Sunny morning
You can hear it
Siren's warning
There is weather on both sides
And I know it's coming

Just like before
There's a black dog
That scratches my door
He's been growling my name saying
You better get to running

Can you make it better for me
Can you make me see the light of day
Because I got no one
Who will bring me a
Big umbrella
So I'm watching the weather channel
And waiting for the storm

It's just sugar
Just a pill to make me happy
I know it may not fix the hinges
But at least the door has stopped it¹s creaking

I got friends
They're waiting for me to comb out my hair
Come outside and join the human race
But I don't feel so human

Can you make it better for me
Can you make me see the light of day
Because I got lab coats
Who will bring me a panacea
While I'm watching the weather channel
Waiting for the storm

You won't want me
Hanging around the birthday pony
Even though it's just a game
You know we are the same
But you're the better faker.

Well, I'm one of those people who flips between TWC and FNC. And I will admit that since Sept. 11, I've been at FNC more. I'd come back to TWC for longer periods if they'd go back to the weather-techhy stuff. The features are okay, sometimes, but I don't go out of my way to watch them. Gimme dew points and radar and dry lines and wind shear!! And gimme it when it is happening (or about to!) Yesterday they did spend a bit of time explaining the severe situation in the midwest and I stayed glued to it.

If they are talking about CURRENT weather it all fits in. But who needs an analysis of a 10 year old hurricane? Leave that to the History Channel.

One big change being considered is hiring anchors with no meteorological training but lots of personality and energy.

The Weather Channel is already well stocked with weather bunnies. The ladies they have on there now are both attractive and--get this--knowledgable and intelligent. What could be sexier than attractive (and apparently wildly fertile) ladies who are also authorities on science?

If they try to turn it into 'Bay Watch,' it will be a sorry loss for us all.

Hmmm, makes me wonder -- Do you Midwesterners have Super Bowl-style Weather Channel parties for those big events like incoming tornadoes, deluges, blizzards and river overflows?

And also -- do dramatic barometric pressure readings get front page news out there? ;-)

I don't watch the Weather Channel....I go for the big guns, like watching the radar direct from the NWS online, reading their disccusions on severe weather, etc. On the other hand, when the local news breaks in for several hours when there are lots of tornadic storms, I can be almost entranced by it and sit almost through the entire coverage even though eventually hardly no new information of any major value is presented...:)

You know, I never knew what people saw in her. I've always been attracted to the pretty faces. BTW, the wind really picked up for a moment here in da Burgh (speaking of weather) and saw, right in front of me, aluminum siding get ripped off a house and fall on a bunch of cars. For those of you in hurricane states, it's not a big deal, but we figure with the muggy summers and frigid winters, we'd get a little break!
