I'd think that Chirac is playing the stereotypical role of "surrender monkey." If the Jews were on the winning team he would back them.

Yeah, you are probably right.

The paper seemed to say that Le Pen used the pun (which supposedly translates to "Dura-oven Crematory") to gain "distinction." Well gee, that's obvious. But what could Mr. Durafour have done or said to earn such a moniker. Was he (like a tiny, vocal activist minority of Jews) a Holocaust-whiner?

Do not know that one, but I am curious now. I'll lend a hand with the searching. Do post what you find.

Past statements leave little room for doubt, though. He referred to the former socialist minister Michel Durafour as "Durafour Crematoire [Gas chamber]," and described the Jewish TV star Anne Sinclair as "a juicy kosher butcher". Asked directly by journalists whether he was an anti-semite, he responded: "I don't like Chagall and my favourite composer is Wagner. Does that make me anti-Jewish?" If this is the size of it, the situation is ambiguous. Gallows humor in bad taste but no malice? Or a real antipathy?

Early in his political career, when Le Pen had only a few supporters, some of his inner circle were true neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers. He never explicitly endorsed their views, but also refused to publicly repudiate them. His "detail of history" remark came in that context-- a reporter asked him if he really believed there were no concentration camps, and he said the question wasn't worth talking about because the Holocaust, even if it happened, was only a "detail of history."

So perhaps the "Durafour Crematoire" remark was that of Le Pen projecting his own biases concerning the Holocaust on Durafour? I hope those biases are of the past. The Holocaust was one of the largest genocides of modern times (though according to the Guiness Book of World Records, it is far from being the largest genocide in history).

The Jews who flock to to the Left, the same Left that takes hatred to a new level when it comes to Western Civilization should remember one thing, when France becomes Muslim dominated it will be armed with nuclear weapons. With out of control immigration and multi-culturalism working full time to intimidate whites this scenario can pass quickly. Of course in America the Mexicanizing won't put our thousands of weapons into Muslim hands, but who knows where they will go when our government is ridden with factions and as corrupt as the Mexican police. Another thing to remember South Africa helped Israel develop its nukes and when the white dominated government was handing over the reigns to black South Africans it was encouraged to dismantle its weapons therefore contradicting egalitarian theory.
