Lets take them on........first they said oil is a weapon and they would side to the far right or far left of Saddam sounds like they picked there side and it's with the terrorists. Maybe this time we should share these countries with Russia. That would give the House of Saud something to think about. P.S. if we need to do it by ourself then lets let things GLOW ! Before they hit us again.

Maybe they don't want to use oil as a weapon because they don't want to speed up the inevitable switch to cleaner alternative energy sources. I wonder what it will take for America to start investing heavily in viable technologies that can end the oil burn.

Well, gee whiz, welcome to the forum!

I don't suppose it occurs to you that making us mad at Bush because he isn't a total fool about the Saudis would be an excellent way to get the Jewish vote to come back to the democrats?

Lots of spin in the papers today. I prefer to not make hasty decisions, and I am glad the President doesn't do so either.

LOL! No need to get in a snit. I am not supporting their telethon, nor do I think they are our best friends. I do think that the Saudis would not be so stupid as to come here and try to manipulate the President through anonymous articles in the New York Times, and I knew they wouldn't try to use oil as a weapon, so that part of the story was just a flat-out lie.

Sometimes, when you are at war, you have to take assistance from those whom you would rather not deal with, rather like the way spies deal with the criminal class. It isn't pretty, but it has to be done.

All of this griping about Bush meeting with the Crown Prince is ridiculous. Reagan met with Gorbachev, you know. It is part of the way foreign policy is conducted, except in the fantasy worlds of those who think the President can just bark orders to everyone in the world.
