I was under the impression that the RCC was formed in the early 700's. It was a combination of the warring factions of the time, that being pagan's and Christians.

The Romans in order to control these 2 groups and stop the violence, offered a settlement.

By the early 700's, the "pagans" were long gone. So were the "Romans" in the West. The Greek East kept what was left of the "Roman" heritage alive. Here's a little chronology for you:

AD 33 ... Resurrection of Christ
AD 66 ... St. Peter martyred in Rome (under Nero) buried on Vatican hill; first major persecution of Christians by Romans
AD 70 ... Roman legions under Titus and Vespasian sack Jerusalem, destroy the Temple
AD 95 ... approximate date of St. John the Evangelist's death; (Pope St.) Clement of Rome writes to the Corinthians about avoiding faction; Roman persecution of Christians intensifies again under Emperor Domitian
AD 110 ... St. Ignatius of Antioch, on his way to martyrdom in Rome, writes a series of letters to the churches on his way in which he refers to the worldwide church as "the Catholic Church". Denounces those who "deny that the Eucharist is the flesh of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ".
AD 180 ... St. Irenaeus, second-generation disciple of St. John, writes that all Christians must be faithful to the tradition of faith preserved by the Church "founded by the Apostles Peter and Paul" in Rome
AD 200 ... Tertullian, first major theologian to write in Latin, originates the word "Trinity"
AD 270 ... First preserved record of prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary AD 284 ... Diocletian becomes Emperor, launches fierce persecution of the Church
AD 313 ... Constantine sees a vision of a cross and the words "In Hoc Signo Vinces," defeats Maxentius at the battle of the Milvian Bridge; signs edict of toleration ending the persecution of Christians
AD 325 ... Council of Nicaea called, condemns "Arianism," the heresy that Jesus is not truly God, but only a created demi-god; (around this time) Constantine builds the first St. Peter's Basilica in Rome
AD 361 ... Emperor Julian the Apostate renounces Christianity, tries to resurrect paganism. Fails miserably; his last words supposedly are "Galilean, thou hast conquered"
AD 380 ... Emperor Theodosius the Great makes Catholic Christianity the state religion of the Empire; bans the Olympic Games as "too pagan"
AD 381 ... Council of Constantinople teaches definitively that the Holy Spirit is God
AD 380-410 ... final promulgation of the canon of the New Testament by one Papal decree (the "Tome of Damasus") and three local councils of Catholic bishops (Hippo, Carthage, Rome)
AD 409 ... Rome falls to the Goths the first time
AD 431 ... Council of Ephesus affirms the use of the title "God-bearer" or "Mother of God" in regard to the Blessed Virgin
AD 451 ... Council of Chalcedon adopts the teaching of Pope Leo of Rome on the divinity of Christ, hailing it with the words "Peter has spoken through Leo"
AD 476 ... Last Western Roman emperor killed by the barbarian Roman chieftain Odoacer; western Roman empire ends
We're still a long time before the 700's.

It is estimated that over 3 million Christians who refused join the union of pagans and believers...were slaughtered.

There was no "union of pagans and believers". There were no 3 million "slaughtered". The person making this "estimate" is making up history as he goes.
