I'm not against the death penalty, but in this case it always seemed to me they were in such a hurry to kill McVeigh. Maybe now we know why!

True it was not a high grade bomb but it was properly placed to cause the most damage. This is why the feds do not want to release the survaillance tapes. They would allow future terrorists to, "get the most bang for their buck."

A truck bomb creates an above ground blast. At a point distant from the blast the shock wave reflected from the ground and the shock wave that propagtes from the blast epicenter intersect. The point of intersection is called the triple point and the distance above the ground to the triple point is called the Mach finger. You put the triple point or tip of the Mach finger on the structural supports you want to take out. This exact data is not easily aquired and could allow bombers to hone their skills and use even smaller bombs for greater effects. Many federal building use similiar or like architecture.

You just don't want a blueprint out there for taking down buildings. Future buildings may have to have the adjacent roads sunk into the ground to provide a berm effect and that costs $$$$$.
