It's not like he was saying anything worth listening to, was he?
Please don't mistake my cynacism with the Justice Dept as an arguement for McVeigh's innocence. I think that bastard was guilty as sin...just not SOLEY responsible.
because both parties are statists, interested in maintaining the federal government. and there is a different person, but nothing is too different. coke or pepsi?
Agreed, McVeigh hadn't said anything. Will you agree there is a possibility he would have said something, if he was still alive?
Wrong. He got kicked off the grand jury when he went from being an impartial juror, weighing the testimony presented before the entire jury, to being an advocate for one specific idea, based on reviewing evidence that was not presented before the jury. It had nothing to do with asking to see the videos.
Strategic Investment was on this thing right away, as well as all the (other?) Clinton crimes. They had excellent connections as former CIA Director William Colby was on the staff. Not too long afterwards, Colby was found dead in extremely suspicious circumstances ("canoe accident"). Strategic Investment soon folded it's tent and quietly (and based on the demise of Colby, wisely) went away.
Just another mystery in the long list of Clinton-era mysteries that will never be solved but beg investigation....
Indeed. The Lee Harvey Oswald of the 90's, with his cowflop bomb being the equal of the Mannlicher-Caranco, and the blast force and pattern equal to the "magic" bullet. The one thing missing was a Jack Ruby, so the Government had to take that part, combined with a "Warren Commission" trial. It's not so surprising, when the Government had such a great "template"; i.e., the Kennedy hit, to work from.
There has been ample evidence of Middle-Eastern involvement, which has been suppressed from the start. I seem to remember something about hundreds, if not thousands of Iraqui "prisoners" being settled in OK after the Gulf war, and, of course, that "Elohim City" thing, although that may have been just another red herring for the anti-militia types.
And as for the "cowflop bomb," it was a wee more than cowflop. And along with some expert assistance in building a bomb, the jihadists might have been able to provide some pointers on where to park the thing for best effect.
Please note that the indictment against McVeigh and Nichols includes the phrase "and unknown others." Kinda strange for anyone who says that the official government stance is that McVeigh acted alone.
True enough. It also wasn't high grade bomb material, and the damage, as General Partin points out, is inconsistent with the quality of the explosive...anyhow, I just sort of went into "tilt" mode when I saw the word "patsy". McVeigh was guilty, no doubt. But it's just a little too pat. The remark in another post about the "tape" playing in his head hits me as more than just a euphemism, too. Remember that he said he was convinced that the Army had planted a "chip" in his butt? Was he also "conditioned"? Let's not forget MK-ULTRA and its' variants...some of those Iraquis I mentioned were no doubt Intel types of some sort.
Last I knew, we were innocent to start with and had to be proven guilty.
I'd avoid relying on Partin's investigation. His model of the blast ignores the vertical dimension. The floor slabs were exposed to forces in excess of their design loadings by one or two orders of magnitude, and these were negative loadings (i.e., they pushed UP instead of down). Partin's drawing only shows horizontal distances from the blast hypocenter.
The key element was the transfer beam: when the floor slab on the third floor came up, the transfer beam just rolled inward off the tops of the four footing pillars (the beam wasn't secured to the footing pillars by anything except the weight of the structure above it). Without the transfer beam, there wasn't anything to hold the front third of the building up, and it collapsed.
