And as the northern kingdom was steadily defeated in war after war, drifting farther and farther away from God, it had dwindled by the 750-700 BC era into a small petty city-state at Samaria, which went into utter vassalage to Assyria in c727 BC and totally ceased c707-02 BC.

It is very doubtful that in (say) 725 BC just before the serious (?) deportations to Assyria began...that there were even a hundred thousand persons in the northern "kingdom," perhaps more like 50-70k

I do not believe that 2sheep was arguing that the position of the government of Israel, day to day, was always infallible or one that either the American or the Christian need subscribe to in order to be in God's favor.

That government is made up of fallible humans, like ours is, and has usually consisted of secularist socialists.

The loyalty of the Christian, or the believing Jew, is to the PEOPLE and LAND of GOD, and to His Word, and thus to the true INTERESTS of Israel as the rightful and destined people of God and medium of salvation to the world.

I believe, and I am sure 2sheep would agree, that we are free to dissent, even strongly, with the policies of any human government at all, that all men might be accursed= disdained=held in contempt, ignored....and God be valued over all.

2 Samuel 24:9 Joab reported the number of the fighting men to the king: In Israel there were eight hundred thousand able-bodied men who could handle a sword, and in Judah five hundred thousand.

This is the highest Israelite count I am aware of in the Bible. It is obvious to the most casual observer that the Northern Kingdom outnumbers the Southern Kingdom 8 to 5.

When you apply the Standard Multiplier of x6 to arrive at total Israelite count including women, children, etc you show the Northern Kingdom at nearly 5 MILLION, and the Southern Kingdom at 3 MILLION. These are not trivial numbers!

Now please go away and study your Bible before burning up more bandwidth. Your total contribution to this discussion has been ZERO, a combination of reckless prattle, nervous speculation, and sheer nonsense. If you are not willing to take the 3 MINUTES needed to study my Profile and it's links I'm not going to waste the time to answer you.

It is YOU, LT, not I, that is arguing for very different histories and populations and facts, than the ones normally held by impartial scholars in this field.

It is YOU, not I, who is making some kind of unusual (aka cultic or heretical) set of ideas around the alleged fate of the allegedly numerous and allegedly lost northern kingdom.

I have written nothing that is cultic or peculiar to me, and my only purpose has been to educate those who know even less than I do.

IF YOU or others on here know more than I do, and thus can catch me out, feel free to do so, whether or not you bother to say so on the thread or by private reply.

Those figures predate even the INCEPTION of the northern kingdom by nearly a century, and have no bearing on the tiny dwindled handful who still remained in the 100 sq miles or less that Samaria ruled in her pitiful last days before Nineveh put her out of her misery.

Very many of that 99% of those that the Bible says were there in 1010 BC, who had gone by 740 BC, had precisely gone TO the southern kingdom, which in fact began to project northward a bit and take over some borderline territory in the 770-590 era....

Even from a non-Biblical word view, psychopathological tyrants are waging war against Israel. If we don't defend Israel, we're next. If China invades Taiwan, and we don't defend Taiwan, we could be next too. That's not "treason".

Now the Bible says that God will bless those who bless Abraham and curse those who curse Abraham. If we betray Israel, God pays attention. The Curse of Anti-Semitism The son of one of the Canadian prime ministers and many Canadian Christians repented for his father's sins and Canada's collective sins. His father turned away the SS St. Louis. Many pastors in Cuba believe Cuba is under a curse for voting against the birth of Israel in 1948. This is part of many Christians' theology, because its straightforward if you read the Bible. That's not treason. I hope Bush and Powell make the right decisions for all of our sakes.

I had never heard that before. Can you tell me where I can find this in the Bible?
