Guess who came up with the idea of flying a plane into a symbolic structure - Algerian terrorists who kidnapped an Air France flight, then realized they couldn't fly. BTW - the French stormed the plane in Marseille and killed them all.

That means the U.S. stepping in, laying on the table proposals that point both parties to some outline of a final settlement. I think we have been there, and done that. One side played, and one didn't. Perhaps Zbig missed it.
