Folks if you don't know the name Tesla you should. Whatever you think of Art Bell, any info is worth listening to. The man was WAY BEYOND GENIOUS.
To: BlackJack
Art Bell has more useful information than many want to give him credit for. Unfortunately, I am only awake in fits and spurts throughout the night.

I love the fringe physics stuff on Art Bell.

Tesla was a genius. His work in the field of electricity was stunted only by the era he was born in. Had he been able to access a Cray supercomputer or Super-conducting technology we'd be amazed at what he'd produce.

Did you all see the PBS special on Tesla a year or so back? Now that type of programming is worth the tax money.

No I missed it. I used to be an Electriclal Engineering major, so I read up on his work. Pretty good stuff.

Folks if you don't know the name Tesla you should. Even less well known than Tesla was a hunch-backed dwarf named Steinmetz who worked with Edison for a time. Steinmetz wrote a lot on electro-magnetic theory. The strange thing is that one night I had a "brain-surge" (inspired by lots of coffee). I had an unread book on electro-magnetic theory lying around and stayed up all night reading the book with utter fascination. By morning I was able to completely understand Steinmetz's theories. Nothing like that ever happened quite like that to me again.
But in order to understand the history of electrical discovery in the 19th century, one must learn about Steinmetz as well as Tesla.

And one day Tesla disappeared without a trace. Interesting no?

Tesla also designed the electrical gadgetry with all those static charges visibly leaping around for the first "Frankenstein" movie. Little known fact.

Well his Tesla coils if big enough is said to disrupt space time so he should be arriving real soon. hehe

No ... I think he died in his hotel in New York. The Waldorf I believe. I heard some kind of controversy about it, But he was 80 or 90 by then. He considered himself a Discoverer rather than an inventor. He was a good friend of Samuel Clemmons ( Mark Twain )

"spurts"? through the night???? hmmmm
To: PJ-Comix
Can you provide a amazon link to this guy. Are there any 3rd grade level reading material that I could read and get to know a bit about him. It sounds like someone I would like to read about. Thanks
To: Walkingfeather
Thats Right! Mark Twain helped with some experiments.... who wud a thunk it????

No ... I think he died in his hotel in New York. The Waldorf I believe. I heard some kind of controversy about it, I'm pretty sure he died in NYC. However, I think he was hit by a car crossing a street. Probably had his mind elsewhere.
