OK, he seems to be talking strictly about the fully-automatic AK-47. From what I understand, he is not talking about the semi-auto versions on said weapon.

This is why I don't support the NRA.

Charlton Heston. Our Hero.
It's not about hunting, it's about defense.
Home, community, Country.

Now that we have that cleared up, all the members can quit and the only organization that will fight for gun rights is a group hardly anyone has ever heard of.

Sarah Brady would be so proud.

My AK-47 makes many people nervous. As it should.

What group are you a card carrying member of?

You think the president of the NRA doesn't know Kalashnikovs in this country come in two flavors, semi- and full-auto?

Thank you for the link. He certainly isn't the first head of a civil rights group to play both sides of the ball court.

Pay attention to the fact that the President of the National Rifle Association holds that the Second Amendment is about hunting and self defense.

It is about self defense. But the class of entitites to be defended against is not limited to petty criminals, crackheads, rapists and the like.

The AK-47, or an M-16 if you want to buy American, is an "arm" under the meaning of the second amendment, and the 1934 law that "Moses" seems so fond of is every bit as unconstitutional as the latest assault weapons ban, magazine ban, or "mother (Brady) may I" backdoor registratioin law.

I like nice, pretty guns; not the ones that look mean and nasty.

Heston has expressed a desire to move the NRA into the political "mainstream." He has downplayed the significance of the Brady waiting-period law, claiming not only that it is "cosmetic" and "meaningless," but that "I don’t care if they keep the Brady Act forever." During a May 9, 1997 interview on San Francisco radio station KGO, Heston, who had just been elected NRA first vice president the previous day, was asked if he would try to get "the right-wing folks off the [NRA] board and out of the picture." He replied, "That’s certainly the intention, and I think it’s highly doable."

What he is saying is "KEEP FEDERAL CONTROL OVER THE DIMINISHMENT OF YOUR RIGHTS"

Time for America to do away with ALL laws that violate the 2nd amendment.

Text of the Second Amendment
"A well regulated Militia
being necessary to the security of a free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."

Anyone who actually reads AND understands the 2nd Amendment
will see that there is no constitutional authority for any type of gun registration
and *there is no need for anyone to have to apply for a license to carry a gun.
*NOTE Vermont is the only state that understands this!
Any political party, politician, judge (etc), organization or individual who trys to convince you that:
1) you must register a firearm
2) you must pass a background check
3) you must wait (x) amount of days before you can get your firearm
4) you need to have a license to carry a gun
is either uneducated about OUR rights as citizens
OR is actively working to undermine OUR country.

How Did the Founders Understand the Second Amendment?

How the Brady Bill Passed (and subsequently - "Instant Check")
When the Brady Bill was passed into law on November 24, 1993,
the Senate voted on the Conference Report
and passed the Brady Bill by UNANIMOUS CONSENT.

NOT ONE SENATOR FROM EITHER PARTY VOTED AGAINST THIS

"Heston: I just got through telling you. The possession- private possession of AK-47's is entirely inappropriate."

Since when is Heston a Founding Father?
Who is he to tell us what are RIGHTS are?
Typical Hollywood liberal.
