The best policy for the US to use to avoid a wider war is to start bombing Iraq. I doubt any of these weak countries would so much as make a peep after seeing Saddam destroyed.

What are the odds on the amount of time it will take Israel to "escalate" this front as well?
Who is starting the pool tonight? I give it 6 hrs, 35 minutes even from ... NOW 19:27:42 .... and you?

The hydra is awakened... and her heads are being lopped off. Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, and the rest...
Israel is doing her part. I doubt they will let injured or killed soldiers and civies go unanswered in a MAJOR way. DEBKA, the ones who every body says is always wrong, and who often misses EXACT details, but hits the principles pretty close.... says Blair, Bush and Sharon settle final plans for dealing with Syria this weekend, and Israel is good to go.
God speed them if it is true. Syria needs a "burma shave" big time.

"It will be a new kind of punishment this time, of an unaccustomed type that will shake their entity and destroy its pillars, Troublesome, very troublesome. (Let's see, what haven't they tried yet.....?)

Yemeni President ...said he supported sending personnel, money and weapons to the Palestinians...
new kind of punishment this time, of an unaccustomed type that will shake their entity and destroy its pillars
Well, this message seems to clearly fall into the camp of "
Against us"
RB2, a very insightful reply about pillars

...wider war in the mideast... And who will be the combatants? Are the Arab states
going to fight each other? They sure aren't going to
fight Israel; none of them want any part of the IDF.
We will decide when there will be wider war in
the mideast: It'll be when we go after Saddam

I think President Bush needs to send a little clarification for Iran, Iraq, and Syria. I think about two weeks worth of ARC LIGHT activity in the BEKKA VALLEY should clarify what he meant in his speech last week.

Well, here is a link to a novel "Arc Light" which refers to a nuclear blast, but then again there is a bike flashlight by the same name. LOL You'll have to query Stumpy (who posted it) for his meaning. :)
