Yes, but I also mentioned never having had calf fries on the table! I didn't know if you weren't telling me "they" were ground up hominy! :)

Hate to tell you, but Florida is a big cattle state, too - all around where I grew up.

I have been present when the cow fries were 'created' - had my own quarterhorse, too!
Been around all the brandin' and other stuff..:)))

We had 1,000 acres of land ourselves, and allowed use of nearly all of it to our good friends who were cattle ranchers.
They had literally thousands of acres (yes, Florida) and sold large tracts of it to create Port Malabar and environs.

Hi, Dave - hope you're enjoying your family reunion picnic. Don't bring the ants back with you, ok?

(gosh, I wish I could find that Billie ant that Sam posted not long ago) :)

Bunny, it's only getting better. I'm heading off to watch my college alumni hockey team ... the Minnesota Gophers play the NCAA Hockey Championship Final tonight in St. Paul. For the first title in 22 years. Woo hoo!

I'm off your *ping* list?

sniff sniff

I called and called and you never came. That kind of rejection is hard to take. :)

I'll give you one more chance. :)

But only because I like your cap :)

"Hate to tell you, but Florida is a big cattle state, too "

Yeah, I heard tell of a few cattle that drifted off our ranches here in Texas and made it across Louisiana and Mississippi without the alligators eating them.
Since there were only fifty thousand or so of them, the cowboys didn't think they were worth the time to round up.

So now yer playin' Roy Rogers - 'quick on the Trigger' - LOL

Well, cowboy, hunker down and set a spell, 'cause my horse, Grasshopper,
was a 'champeen' in his day.

I honestly used to ride him 3 miles to get the mail in the summer, before there were enough persons living out our way to justify the mail car to come by the house!

Well, rather than cut a horse out of that thousand head remuda, I'd always walk those five miles to school.
In the wintertime I'd tie barb wire around my bare feet to keep from slipping on the ice.

This quote was on the Presidential Prayer Team email today. I thought it was worth posting.

"In the wintertime I'd tie barb wire around my bare feet to keep from slipping on the ice."

I do have to admit that was more comfortable than the sandspurs in my feet trekking the 12 miles to school...:)))

(But the riding the horse 3 miles for the mail was a TRUE story...)

Seriously, when I was at the Boy's Ranch at Tankersly, I had a chestnut gelding named Grasshopper!
That sucker was about fourteen hands tall!
'Course I was only ten so my hands weren't all that big!
