NEW YORK (Dow Jones)---A suicide bomber blew himself up Wednesday evening in a hotel in the Israeli coastal resort of Netanya as guests gathered for a Passover Seder, killing 10 people and injuring 70 others, Fox News reported.
Reports from news networks said the bomber set the device off in the foyer of the hotel.
Some of the wounded were seen staggering staggered out of the lobby, which was plunged into darkness by the explosion, the Associated Press repored. One man was covered by a blue blanket, and had blood dripping from his face, said witness Joel Leyden.
Netanya Mayor Miram Feyerberg said it was impossible to prevent such attacks. "This is a city that can be infiltrated from many different directions. It's simply unbelievable," she said.
Leyden said he saw five bodies lined up on the sidewalk outside the hotel. One was that of a woman dressed in her holiday best. Paramedics said at least 51 people were wounded, some of them critically.
It marked the second time in little over two weeks that a Netanya hotel was targeted. On March 9, two Palestinians opened fire on the Jeremy hotel in Netanya, killing two Israelis, including a baby and wounding dozens of guests. The assailants were killed by police.

Has anyone heard from AmericanInIsrael?

What infuriates me most is that Israel will not "get down to business" as they should. If not now, then when? I cannot publicly advocate what I think the Israelis ought to do, for obvious reasons of having my post or this thread yanked.

Now is there any doubt in anyones mind that Arafat is a scum terrorist and that it is he that ordered and is responsible for this barbaric act?

Is this what our president means by "unhelpful"?

From Haaretz's web site:
"Both the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, linked to PA Chairman Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement, and Hamas have claimed responsibility for the attack."
Falling over each other to take pride in killing innocent Jewish civilians. Such peaceful people. Flatten their towns, level their mosques, hunt down their hate-inciting mullahs, and kill anyone that tries to get in the way. World opinion be dam**ed. Most of the world doesn't care when Jews are killed anyway, it's time to stop worrying about whether they approve.

Predictions on how Israel responds to this one? I think it's clear if Arafat had left for the Arab meeting of jew-bashing he would nto be allowed back. Maybe we are getting to the point where complete occupations and forced deportation of Palestinians out of the West Bank and Gaza becomes an option.

Security sources: Attack will have far-reaching effects on PA |
|
By Amos Harel, Ha'aretz Correspondent |
Security sources said Wednesday evening that the attack on a Netanya hotel, in which at least 15 people were killed and 80 wounded, would have far-reaching consequences for the Palestinian Authority.
The sources placed the blame on the Palestinian Authority for the failure of the cease-fire mission of U.S. envoy Anthony Zinni, dispatched by President George Bush to broker a truce. "Israel responded with committment to all of Zinni's proposals," the sources said. "What happened in Netanya has changed the picture."
Ra'anan Gissin, an adviser to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon adviser, said the attack "will require us to re-evaluate our overall policy."
"We are still working to achieve a cease-fire to which we are fully committed, but if the Palestinians have decided to choose the road of terrorism... then we have to decide what measures we will take," Gissin said.
There was no immediate Palestinian comment.
Defense Minister Benjamin Ben-Eliezer, joining IDF paratroopers in the West Bank for the first night of Passover, is in contact with the IDF senior echelons and the Shin Bet security service and is receiving constant updates on the situation.
The decision on Israel's response to the attack is likely in the next few hours. |

Is there an honorable solution other than "ethnic cleansing", by which I mean "keeping all Palestinians physically away" from the Jews"? I suppose that in practical terms that means pushing/carrying the Palestinians into Jordan, Egypt, Syria, and Lebanon.
Just curious...

A Palestinian Fatah activist carries a rocket launcher in front of a poster of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, during a demonstration in the West Bank city of Nablus March 26, 2002. Israel said Arafat had not met its terms for attending an Arab summit, ignoring U.S. pressure to let him go to Beirut to add weight to a Middle East peace initiative.
