Can't make an omelet, without breakin eggs.

Can't build a temple, without leveling a pagan one underneath.

Such overt hatred for Jews is rather shocking on FR.

I do NOT hate Jews.

I would argue that learned Jews would have even more doubt than I regarding the wisdom/appropriateness of this upcoming event.

This is probably "happier news" to EnD-Time Christians than to Jews.

Clearly this event will not simplify Zinni's work.

I said that religiously IN MY OPINION they are wrong. But after following so many of the articles you have posted I can only conclude Jew hatred.

In any case, you did not answer the question. WHy don't they have the same rights that Arabs do to the holy sites? Only Arab rights are to be defended but Jews not? SOunds like bigotry to me. Zinni should demand equal access, isn't that what we are all about in the US? Are you denying it is a holy site? BTW- there are religious opinions that do allow them to act, most of us happen to disagree, but that is not for you to decide as a secular commentator.

LOL. Phil, you of all people should realize that there is no plan! The Jews of Israel are pretty much out of ideas now. The Oslo accords gave the Arabs a 30,000 man militia. It was a fait acompli to use them to attack Jews. It was only a matter of when.

But then, the ideology of Shalom Achshav has to try and paint the legitimate defense of Jews in the coarsest of terms. Not too far different than the left in this country paints the right. -War mongers... Dog Kickers...

Shalom Achshav is a failed movement. It is dead in Israel. It is dead here. It is difficult to persuade Jews to "take risks for peace" while they are burying their dead. Matter of fact phil, the Arabs are torching the forests planted in Israel by the Jewish federations. Not many trees to hug.

In any case, you did not answer the question. . .

I have not answered your question of an assertion that I HAVE NOT MADE.

As far as I'm concerned "rights" are not at issue here. Just as I did not question Sharon's "right" to go to The Wall in December,(October?) 2000. I question the prudence.

You should be attacking the bigotry of the Muslims. Is it prudent for them to deny the Jews rights? Don't Muslims have an equal responsibility to restrain themselves from violence. The Jews aren't doing anything violent, why should the Muslims be given a free pass to act like barbarians by Phil? You are not condemning the bigotry of the Arabs, so I must conclude that you hate the Jews.

Israel Halts Mosque Construction

Mar. 3, 2002 | Associated Press

'J E R U S A L E M, March 3 — Israel announced a permanent halt Sunday on construction of a large mosque next to the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth, drawing strong condemnation from Muslims in the biblical town. The Islamic Movement in Nazareth, the group that wants to build the mosque, accused Christian leaders abroad of meddling in a local affair and said it would not abandon its plans.

"We totally reject this decision, we are going to stay in our holy land until we finish building the mosque," said Salman Abu Ahmed, the group's leader. The issue has raised tensions in Israel's largest Arab city since 1998, when Muslims received government permission to build a mosque on a lot adjacent to the basilica where they say a sheikh was buried.

Christian leaders have said that building a mosque so close to the Basilica the largest in the Middle East and the site where tradition says the Angel Gabriel foretold Jesus' birth would be disrespectful. Pope John Paul II threatened to cancel a visit in 2000 over the issue, and President Bush raised the subject with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon during a meeting last year.

The foundation of the mosque has been set, but the building permits have never been issued. Israel has proposed alternate sites, which Muslims in Nazareth have rejected. Natan Sharansky, the Israeli Cabinet minister in charge of a committee the government set up last month to resolve the dispute, announced Sunday that construction of the mosque would be halted for good.'

Israel protects the Holy Land.

It is equally true that I am not attacking "the bigotry of the Jews". Therefore (by your assinine logic) I hate Arabs?

What matters is how many Americans must die; and unless there is a national security reason (which appears to be missing from that conflict) that number must be "zero"

I think that any suggestion to the effect that Bush is afraid to "spend political capital" is now obsolete.

I DO think that tikun olam does not mean the destruction of Mosques in G_od's name.

Well, then what does it mean? Does it mean the destruction of synagogues in Mohammed's name? You think this is swell?

No. It is an abomination. And whoever justifies his proposed abomination by pointing to another's is acting in an ungodly manner.

How is it Jewish bigotry if they wish the free exercise of their religion? Your hatred of Jews is so visceral that your entire thinking process is distorted? If Jews want to act as Jews that is Jewish bigotry? Maybe in Philland.

PhilVer wants Jews to cower in their hovels and never dare practice their religion because in his distorted mind Muslims are unable to control their murderous impulses and therefore must be appeased. Jews must be prudent and shuffle along saying yes massa PHilver, while Muslims get the PhilVer royal treatment. How pathetic. SUch overt hatred of both Jews and Muslims.
