A Manager of a retail clothing store is reviewing a potential employee's application and notices that the man has never worked in retail before.
He says to the man, "For a man with no experience, you are certainly asking for a high wage."
"Well Sir," the applicant replies, "the work is so much harder when you don't know what you're doing!"

Knowing that the minister was very fond of cherry brandy, one of the church elders offered to present him with a bottle on one consideration - that the pastor acknowledge receipt of the gift in the church paper.
"Gladly," responded the good man.
When the church magazine came out a few days later, the elder turned at once to the "appreciation" column.
There he read:
"The minister extends his thanks to Elder Brown for his gift of fruit and for the spirit in which it was given."

Thank You Brother!
My time spent training to be a Radio Watchstander on the Coast Guard Base
is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.
One of the things that I like the most is that even though I am in the Coast Guard Auxiliary,
I am required to do the same training for my post as the Coast Guard personnell do themselves.
Once I am qualified (soon), I'll be the one a boat in distress talks to first.
I'll have to be able to locate them on the navigation chart,
give them immeadiate instructions on what to do
and do all this with confidence in my voice
to let them know help is on the way.
Then I'll co-ordinate between the Coast Guard boat(s) sent out and the boat in distress.

Daisy what gorgeous flowers !!!! Wow! I love flowers, and butterflys so much. One of my bears is a butterfly catcher, he is so cute, he even has a little open air container with a tiny butterly in it that looks like it is flying around. giggle..
Thank you and I can see you there , right there among the beautiful flowers too. tee hee...

Below is what the Coast Guard here did on Monday, 3/18/02I know everyone of the Coast Guard personnel
from the Charelston (AKA Coos Bay Station) involved in this rescue. The men and women who go out on these rescues are true heroesCalls from a sinking vessel Monday (03/18/02) morning resulted in a response
from local U.S. Coast Guard personnel.
Around 10 a.m., crews from Motor Lifeboat Station Umpqua River, the Charleston lifeboat station
and a helicopter crew from U.S Coast Guard, Group North Bend Air Station,
responded to a call that the Charleston fishing vessel Genesis A was taking on water.
Master of the vessel, Nicholas R. Edwards, age and address unavailable,
reported the ship was taking on water and losing propulsion
about 7 miles northwest of the Coos Bay bar, about 3 miles from shore.
Two Coast Guard crew members boarded the vessel, pumped out the water and stopped the leak.
Edwards and the crew regained power to the vessel and returned to port in Charleston
escorted by three Coast Guard vessels. A Coast Guard spokesman said the cause of the leak was undetermined. There were no injuries.

This is the kind of boat I trained on Thur. to learn the area for my Coast Guard radio watchstanding course.
It was myself and the 2 man crew, cruising at 40 knots in the ocean off of Coos Bay OR
The 25-foot Secure Around Flotation Equipped (SAFE) boat
Top speed 45+ knots. 2 Twin 150HP outboard gasoline engines.

Thank you ppaul for this remembering our troops.
Our FReedom has cost so much and still is today. With my whole heart I wish that more people out there in this big world of the USA would realize this and appreciate our Veterans and military. I know many do, but I want every citizen to feel this way.
Thank you again my friend.

A very good afternoon to you Snow Bunny - the day is lovely in our neighbor, just like it always is in the USO Canteen. ;-)
