I wonder (a) what the hell the "adults" in this situation thought they were doing and (b) what the ethnicity of these sexually overactive 8-12 year olds was.

I "wonder" too. I mean really, why would one invite a large group of unruly minors into their home?

I don't believe "ethnicity" has anything to do with it.
"Affordable housing" certainly indicates a lower socio-economic neighborhood, however, even supposedly "upper class" communities aren't immune to the decline of our nation's moral and ethical standards. Excessive permissiveness, lack of parental discipline, etc. are rampant throughout our society. The "American Taliban" kid wasn't raised in "affordable housing" by a "disadvantaged" family.

Green Meadows-Phase I is part of a very large complex in Baldwin, Pennsylvania. Between Phase I, which was completed in June, 2000, and Phase II (completed in May 2001) there will be over one thousand newly renovated units available for housing to persons of all income levels. I think I have my answer to part B of my question.

"They were always throwing rocks at cars," she said. "We've seen them throwing rocks at other kids."I would not invite such hooligans into my home. What were the young adults thinking?

Bleeding heart liberals will never learn.
They think people are "victims" of society, so they try to help.
Unfortunately, so-called victims are often times perpetrators; that's why they're on the street; because they don't fit in to society.

This whole thing has 'unfathomable levels of stupidity' written all over it.

If they throw rocks at cars, I kinda makes you want to invite them into your home doesn't it!

Sounds kind of like a zoo to me.

What kind of brain-dead "adults" watch a group of kids throw rocks at cars (!?!), see them up running around at 11 PM, and then invite them into their house? For that matter, who leaves $400 out on a coffee table? My question is, what's the drug involvement here?

In all my years managing apartments, I have never heard of anything like this.

Ethnicity has nothing to do with it -- trust me, we have plenty of trouble spots around Pittsburgh that generally correlate to economic level rather than race. The really outrageous part of this story (reported all over our local news) is that these children (or thugs, as I like to call them) were deemed "too young" to be sent to the Schuman Detention Center (Pittsburgh's juvie jail). Instead, they were "remanded to the custody of their parents." Uh, hello? Weren't they in the custody of their parents when this happened in the first place??

What's going on in Baldwin, prisoner6?

I swear, I just cannot comprehend this depth of ignorance. Who in the hell would let kids into their home whom they earlier witnessed throwing rocks at cars?

I agree.
What kind of fool invites strangers into their home and leaves any amount of money on the table in plan view?
Stupid people get what they deserve.
This reminds me of Norman Mailer and the guy he got out of prison only to have him kill again.
If people are acting wacky or they have a past, keep your distance.

The sound bite that's been playing the past couple of days is a hoot. A small child...maybe 8 or so...is being interviewd. He claims when he was in the house and "Da lady she wuz lyin dere on de bed and they wuz touching her private parts and she was enjoying it. She ask me if I wanted to do it to her too and I said no but I did touch her tummy".
The mother of one of the kidz is also giving sound saying it wasn't the kidz fault. And the two women who were the targets of the attack claim they are scared to be in those apartments now and have to stay with relatives .
Within a day or so I expect a fight over attempts to evict the familiies involved. It could get real nasty, ezpecially if the local NAACP head, Tim Stevens, gets involved. He hasn't been in the headlines for a couple of weeks so it's about time for him to pop up with some silly comments. Interestingly enough he was a doo - wop singer with a band ...The Skyliners I think...a long time ago.
Plus early this morning...around 5am local time... there was a BIG drug bust going down in the same housing complex where the attack happened. I had an early tip on it but couldn't get details until after I was home.
Any way you look at it this is going to be fun over the next few weeks, maybe longer.
