I disagree with your evaluation of Savage. He's awesome -- heads above the rest.

I commented recently on his unwillingness to engage people with whom he has a disagreement. Got flamed here. These threads are for those who like kool aid.

Savage has talent. I don't argue with that. However, if you really examine what he says or how he acts you find 3 things to be true:

1) he screws up on the facts from time-to-time (obviously, if I can see these errors when all I do is check newspapers and cable news shows, then Savage needs to do more show prep). BOTTOM LINE: don't take everything that he says as the God's honest truth.

2) his self promotion has been sickning lately. I'm tired of hearing about how wonderful his show is. I'm tired of hearing about how everbody else on the radio is a sell out. I'm tired of hearing about all of his degrees in nutrition or his travels in the South Pacific (like that makes him more qualified to talk about domestic & foreign affairs?).

3) turning down the volume on callers and flaming them when they have no means of engaging him in reasoned debate may be funny from time-to-time, but this does not make him a genius...he's just entertaining as a hatchet man.

Those are all things that I've noticed, too. Interesting that we have a Kool-Aid versus truth issue going here - it parallel, in a smaller way, the CFR debate. I am happy to see that the White House is being Freeped on CFR. I wondered what would happen if the President went for something that was contrary to the principles of our Constitution and our liberties as a Constitutional Republic.

After all, our liberties are worth discussion and disagreement.

Does any critique of the Savage Nation fit within this framework of FreeRepublic principles?
