I think the answer is simple: Class Warfare and Peer Pressure.

The Democrats waged a more effective campaign than the Republicans for the heart and soul (and vote) of the 'ordinary' or 'little' guy - black OR white. They're doing it even as I type this, and they keep doing it for one reason: it works. Make no mistake, it's less effective than before because more blacks are moving into mid to upper level management, own their own companies, have stock options and - gasp - capital gains!

Peer pressure works across race and gender lines in many ways. Look at the outrage from the Democrats today because Pataki picked up the endorsement of a labor union. Why? Because union workers are SUPPOSED to be Democrats.

Breaking with tradition can be very difficult for some who do not yet have the courage of their convictions. When I talk to the politically naive, I always suggest they listen to Rush for at least a month, and of course I refer them to Free Republic. Osmosis does work. I've 'converted' quite a few people in this way.

I have long wished to run a political campaign for a Conservative Republican in a district with a large Black constituency. To the extent possible, the Black's ought to be forced to confront the question of what benefit they have obtained from voting as a block for the Dems.

Incarceration of a substantial fraction of their young male population; exclusion from the main stream of the public education system to effectively preclude them from getting an education; are a couple of examples that come to mind.

The argument that the Dems will get them more money from the government may be significant however again, the response should be--So What? They have not received any real benefit from the money.

Do you think "MurryMom" is Senator Patti Murry of the State of Washington?

Good article, but I just wish he hadn't quoted Woodrow Wilson who was a Southern Democrat segregationist himself. One of the first acts of the Wilson administration was to order Federal offices in DC to provide segregated cafeterias and wash rooms and such. They had never been segregated before his administration.

Excellent point, though no doubt it will have little effect on the neo-rebs who infest this site.

Let me say it again, for Democrat lurkers.

Wilson was a segregationist.

Wilson was a segregationist.

Wilson was a segregationist.

Wilson was a segregationist.

Now, is that clear?

Liberty and Union, Now and Forever!

Megga dittos from Ditto. We are One nation and my on enemies in this nation are those who seek to divide us, be it Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the Democrat National Committee, or Thomas DiLorenzo and his revisionist history.

I fear for the Conservative movement if a 'junk historian' like DiLorenzo can gain any traction on our side of history.

Bill Buckley, Alan Keyes, Robert Bork, ---- Rish Limbaugh! --- we need your help here.

No - Patty Murray isn't intelligent enough to figure how how to sign on and post to FR.
