That principle is called the "Principle of Mass". Paraphrased it states that a war, any WAR, should be waged by massing all the resources at hand; the economy, public support, logistical support, etc. to totally defeat the enemy in the quickest and most efficient manner so as to minimize the cost in both human life and dollars and cents to us. This is such a simple concept and the military given its "head" to conduct that war, in which we were not allowed to win, could have completed the war in rather short order in a successful manner.
You stated:"58,000 men are listed on a black wall, the wall is as black as the hearts of the politicians and media that sold them out."
There is an ultimate truth to the statement, but ... and here is my opinion.
Americans; every mother's son and daughter of them; have culpability and in your vernacular "blackened hearts". You see the cruelest cut of all for me was the "people" not only quit supporting us, they eventually, in the main, turned on us, many for conducting the war and then many for not "winning" the war. Politicians are elected by the people and were during Viet Nam. The same "people" we were serving elected the politicians that "tied our hands behind our backs". The Press does not operate in a Vacuum and it is the responsibility of the "people" to seek the truth, especially in matters where their "finest" were off fighting for their country.
So, my friend, while I do lay much at the feet of the politicians, I lay the basic blame for our failures and loss of so many fine young men, my brothers, square on the people. It has been, again in my experience and opinion only, an exercise in self denial for Americans of all stripes to lay this Viet Nam thing off on the politicians and the press.
Regardless of politics or political parties or any of that stuff, people, whether they accept it or not, are responsible for the choices they make or don't make.
God knows I have tried, with limited success, to forgive the people of the Republic I love and was willing to die for and yet I am not sure I ever will be able to do so completely. I see far too much of the same "blame shifting" going each and every day since Viet Nam.
God Bless you for the links and thoughts. God Bless America.
Yes, we voted last time for Bucannan, for he was the most pro-Life and before that Howard Phillips.
We vote for whom ever the pastor recommends.
Me too, me too. And also with limited success. Suggestion, pick a POW or MIA and pray for him daily, salvation first and strength second. Keeping in mind that to be alive at this time, his strength must be at least three times that of the likes of McCain.
