Thanks for the pings. I will be on the road to the bank and title company at 10 a.m. wah!
When I get back, I hope to find this thread is still here, loaded with information and not flamed to cinders and pulled.
The articles on the prosecuting teams, very interesting that Clarke is also interested in clearing wrongly convicted persons using DNA. Speaks well of his integrity.
Looks to be a battle of Titans.

Is Rick Roberts supposed to be on the tube? Will the proceedings today be on live national TV (like Fox News) or just locally in San Diego? I don't have Court TV (would certainly trade it for that hideous E! channel).

Dern, it's suppose to be on courttv...and it's doubtful that it'll be on fox. I'm looking to see if there's live feed on their website for you.

PRELIMINARY HEARING MONDAY FOR WESTERFIELD( 03-11-2002 ) - A preliminary hearing is set Monday morning for the man accused of kidnapping and killing 7-year-old Danielle van Dam.
David Westerfield gets his day in court Monday. And for the first time we could hear exactly what evidence the prosecution has against him.
Legal expert, and Defense Attorney Bill Nimmo says we'll see how the two sides plan on presenting their case. And we could see some of what the Van Dam's have to say.
"They may not want to call them to subject them to cross examination, but they may have to call them to establish this window of opportunity and why David Westerfield would even know that there was the ability to come in during that period of time," said Nimmo.
But Nimmo says we could be thrown for a loop. The defense could ask for a continuance in the case.

I will have to get all the details here, and possibly a snippet on the Abrams Report on MSNBC later today. Hope the thread stays alive as Val mentioned, so we can get the latest developments.

Preliminary Hearing Expected To Last More Than One Day
Posted: 8:12 a.m. PST March 11, 2002

SAN DIEGO -- A neighbor accused of abducting and killing 7-year-old Danielle van Dam is scheduled to have his preliminary hearing Monday in San Diego Superior Court.
David Westerfield (pictured, right), a 50-year-old self-employed design engineer, is charged with murder, kidnapping and misdemeanor possession of child pornography in connection with the second-grader's disappearance and death.
Watch The Hearing Live On NewsChannel 15 @ 10 a.m.
The preliminary hearing is expected to last more than one day, at which time Superior Court Judge H. Ronald Domnitz will decide whether there is enough evidence to try Westerfield on the charges.
The victim's parents, Brenda and Damon van Dam, reported their daughter missing from their Sabre Springs home the morning of Feb. 2.
After weeks of searching, the girl's partially decomposed body was discovered Feb. 27 off a road in Dehesa.
Westerfield was arrested days earlier when police announced that lab tests had detected the child's blood on his clothing and in his recreational vehicle.
In addition, traces of DNA found on one of Danielle van Dam's garment in her room matched Westerfield's, police Chief David Bejarano said. He called the genetic evidence a "very, very strong link" between the defendant and the missing girl.
The chief offered little insight into what might have motivated Westerfield -- a divorced father of two -- to take Danielle van Dam from her home and family.

His expertise has been recruited by Los Angeles prosecutors, who made him part of their team in the murder trial of O.J. Simpson.
and didn't they do just a great job?

Here's what I said on another thread to Fresno:
Glad to see you back!, glad to be wrong in thinking you would be out for 3 days. It's especially nice for you to be back in light of the important hearing today. I wanted to point out for those at their office, MSNBC online appears to be carrying the hearing. They have it listed at 12:15 p.m. EST.

Oh, you really think anything the prosecutors did in the OJ trial would have made any difference? To answer my own question, no, it wouldn't have.
