,,, the ethical treatment of animals entails the right vegetables, sauce and wine to compliment them when they're served up at meal time.

But did they have it mounted?

The deer or the honda. Maybe they were mounting one another.

What could anyone possibly add to this?

Hehe

Once again, Free Republic scooped the national press. We had this three weeks ago.

Also, in standard Free Republic style, we also had it here and here.

The object, evidently, was to disguise deer as hunters.

I mulled this over for a while, and it occured to me that this was a very dangerous act. It could cause a hunter to accidently CONFUSE A HUNTER WITH A DEER if the knowlege of this stunt "leaked" out to the hunters.

when word spread of the ruse

Son of a gun!

It resulted in at least 308 of the animals being bagged

I am grateful and heartened to know that there are 308 careful hunters out there that made sure of their target before they squeezed, and can't help but wonder if PETA had counted on one being careless.

"No one is out hunting at 1:00 am in the morning!"

Not for deer.

Imagine how one of my SUVs would have wasted that thing...

Driving a dinky little Honda Civic instead of a good, solid American SUV probably resulted in the high repair costs...

$6,000 in car repairs? I'd investigate this.

Don't knock it till you've tried it. I was driving my '97 Ford F150 4x4 pickup southbound on I-84 just north of LaGrande OR. Hit a deer going 60MPh. $9,500 in damage, and one month in the body shop. (Insurance sure paid for itself!)

Suprizingly, there was no damage to the bumper at all. All the damage was on the drivers side grill, hood, fender, and door. Apparently, I hit the deer as it was leaping. I'm fairly certain that had I been driving a lesser vehicle such as a car, or the old Ford Ranger I used to have, I wouldn't be typing this right now. I probably would have been decapitated. But don't take my word for it...

The fact that both airbags went off added about $1000 to the repair bill. And another several hundred for the sensor. New radiator, housing for air filter, the obvious body repairs, paint, labor, it all adds up.

I now have four deer whistles on the front of my truck, and I drive a bit slower in forested areas. It sucks to drive around the sub-compact that the insurance gives you as a rental while your regular vehicle is in the shop.

One thing is for sure. I will NEVER, EVER, EVER purchase a low riding vehicle ever again! It's nothing but big vehicles with nice high driver positions from now on.

Thanks for the picture, depending on speed and size of prey, nothing but an SUV would survive this. I wonder what the Honda and their fawn looked like?

One of the problems that first stuck out in my mind was the fact that these tax funded wacko groups are driving an import? Certainly there must be a sin somewhere there.

I like your wheels.

I didn't know they could do that.

It is quite obvious that these people should receive multiple fines fot the accident. I would go after them for: hunting without a license, taking deer with an unapproved weapon, hunting out of season, failure to maintain control of the vehicle, etc...
