I couldn't agree with you more!

I am from a small town in Washington State in which illegal immigrants are virtually unheard of. Everyone who grows up there stays there and the real world seems so far away that it really doesn't affect folks' lives all that much.

Then, I moved to Los Angeles.

What a shock to see such rampant (and ever-increasing) poverty! I was horrified to find out that large sections of the City of Angels now looks like a Third World Mexican slum. The nice areas are like islands in a vast sea of sludge in which only the very wealthy can afford to live.

I can't even begin to believe that George W. Bush, a man whom I thought would have such a strong backbone about illegal immigration, would try to pull a stunt like this on us. What an utter disappointment.

If he goes through with this, he has lost my respect, and my vote in 2004.

I can see where the future is heading for California. It is not hard to notice that the Hispanic population(countless numbers of whom are illegal) increased by over a million between 1990 and 2000 in Los Angeles County to become the majority. Now, this only counts the folks who participated in the census...there must be thousands upon thousands of others who are finding their way across the border and infesting our cities.

Please let me be clear that I support anyone of hispanic origin, or Mexican origin who is here legally. I welcome them and wish them luck in starting a new life for their families. I just don't want to see my city turned into a big version of Tijuana...it would just break my heart to watch Southern California turn into a vast Mexican ghetto. All the signs are there, and it is inevitable unless something is done.

I wrote my congresswoman and urge others to do so as well.

As Bush is justifying this amnesty by stating that families need to be together and not divided across a border, to that I say...let them reunite in Mexico. That's where they have citizenship and so that's where they belong.

Much, if not all of her specious decision would have been overturned by the US Supreme Court

You're very wrong, but keep blaming this on the liberals. Hey, I am just the messenger here. I'm not saying its correct, but its a fact. Congress alone is empowered to legislate on immigration matters.

News-Flash, you're too late to save any of SoCal from infestation. Just hope that we can stop it before Oregon/Washington get overrun. Then when Kali falls into the ocean problem solved.

Perhaps we should start up a NW border patrol. Hell, Kali/Texas/Arizona/New Mexico can't won't keep 'em out, somebodys got to.

>>"If you believe in family values, if you understand the worth of family and the importance of family, let's get 245I out of the United States Congress and give me a chance to sign it, [Bush said.]"<<

On top of everything else about this, I resent the dishonesty of portraying this as a "family values" issue. It should be an insult to the intelligence of every moral conservative, and it is nothing more than transparent pandering.

Great post. My sentiments exactly. Where I am in NY, same thing, there's very little illegal immigration, though it's growing. My "wake-up" was in my experiences in Arizona. It was like being in two completely different worlds. I could not believe a nation of laws would ever tolerate such lawlessness. And like you I thought maybe Bush would take this issue seriously. But it looks like I've received another wake-up just as shocking as the first one.

It's time for you all to go!

Who? Those who are legal citizens of the United States and of the State of California? No, it's time for the illegal aliens to return to their countries and then apply for a green card like everyone else has to if they want to live here. Let's not talk about racism if by "you all" you mean the other, diminishing 50%.

I stated clearly in my e-mail that I support anyone of Hispanic and/or Mexican origin if they are here legally. I welcome them, in fact.

I do NOT support those who broke the law to get here. This includes anyone, from any country, not just Mexico. It just happens to be that here in Southern California, the Mexican aliens are the biggest problem.

Please note that I am only stating my observations of Los Angeles. Please don't go around screaming "racism" when you can drive around L.A. and see the same patterns and problems as I do. You probably have seen the vast stretches of Mexican ghetto and just don't want to take any responsibility for them, or for your community.

Welcome to FR, new person (giggle)

Your post reminds me of the South Park episode where all the Hollyweird people invaded the town for a film festival, but really just over-ran it and tried to destroy the town, because they were pi**ed they had to live in a SH**hole like LA and thought everyone should have to.

That's not entirely correct.

You need to understand that our so-called leaders and many of the media elite and large corporation owners live in these expensive, guarded, secure, and super nice clean communities, that price the average American and the illegals way out.

As in the Southern California area. Some think its a third world, and some parts are.

However, there is a whole lot of money in Southern California. This money has built extremely tall financial fences.

There are many areas in Southern California where the third worlders, illegals and most middle class Americans are completely locked out due to these tall financial fences.

Large areas of $300,000 homes and *UP* do an excellent job of keeping the average American and the millions of illegal out. Huge areas of million PLUS dollar homes are common place. Trust me, I know of these areas all to well, and they are an absolute paradise with weather to match.

Our politicians and the politically connected live in these very nice areas. They don't give a damn about you or your kids and grandkids. You see the politicians and our so called leaders are protected in their super nice areas with high financial fences. *THEIR* kids and grandkids wont have to worry about bumping bellies with, and living among the millions of illegals aliens like many rank and file Americans have to.

I am coming to the conclusion that the elite politicians and large company owners, and the elite rich, don't give a damn about you or me or America. Their big decision is what to wear to the next luncheon or TV interview, or deciding which party to go to tonight. It appears that they don't give a damn about America or its citizens.

They are well taken care of and isolated from the titanic waves of illegal aliens that are being dumped on us by the millions.

Actually the whites are leaving California at a rate of 40,000 per year.

This is a very telling statement by Bush. In effect he is saying that there is no such thing as illegal immigration in his mind and that any Hispanic that illegally enters the U.S. has a right to stay here. How else can this be interpreted? By extension, Bush is also acknowledging that he as president will not order federal and state law enforcement to enforce our immigration laws...at least in a significant way. IMO, these are impeachable offenses against the country.

"I will sit out the next election or vote 3rd party I just can not take it anymore..the war efforet has become cover to give away America"

We cannot sit out these elections nor even vote for the opponents. We will not be counted! We MUST vote 3rd party and announce that NOW. If we form a base, someone will come.

What will this do for the 2 million illegal muslim criminals in this country now?????

I don't know that anyone will get impeached over this. (pretty hard to impeach even the worst politician.) That pic is "him" with brady the gun grabber.

Remember the backlash after the great Detroit layoffs? Remember the crowds gathering to bash the little eco-boxes? Yah, that's where were headed and it seems like that's where they want us to go.
