I will never watch the video no matter how available it may become. But I understand the argument that Americans need to be reminded of what kind of monsters we are up against.

I too wouldn't want to watch this.

However, it would definitely show the world the a good example of the kind of brutality and vicious anti-Semitism we are facing in this war. As a nation and as a civilization, we need to stop kidding ourselves--these people are just as bad as the Nazis, if not worse.

I've seen another decapitation video from Russia's war in Chech-O-Land. I have an "iron stomach". Others do not. Don't show it.

Michael Medved argued on Greta van Sustern's show that the video should be shown to the American public, but in a way that wasn't easily accessible to children. I think it would be too disturbing even for adults.

I'd suggest a trip to rotten.com first to see if you could stomach watching this video.

As long as they don't show American servicemen being dragged through the the streets of Somalia they shouldn't show Pearl's execution.

I couldn't watch it either. And this could be a slippery slope - showing for real ultra violence, even if it is late TV.

I don't believe we should glorify the actions of those animals by giving them national coverage of their barbarity.

Shortly after the Twin Towers collapsed, some networks broadcast live pictures of people jumping to their deaths from the top floors. After a few minutes, by some collective mechanism, these pictures were pulled, and in all the subsequent shows about the WTC, including the endless repititions of the planes impacting the towers, the images of those poor people choosing to leap to a certain death has rarely been seen agian. Why?..what does this tell you about the media?

If it is shown, I believe it plays into the hands of the anti-death penalty folks. They've been pleading for years to show an execution on television. Of course there is a difference between the murder of an innocent man and ending the life of the guilty, but how will this lobby be denied in the future if this one is shown? Perhaps I'm off-base, but I think it will be used as justification in the future.

Show it. It's important that the world sees what kind of people muslims are.

These Taliban are NOT just a fringe group, they are representative of the entire religion.

No one has to watch it that doesn't want to, or feels that they can't bear to look, but showing the atrocities the musloms commit, helps avoid the denial problem that some people have.

There needs to be a daily dose of TV footage showing the world what goes on in Arabia.

I don't think I want to see it. There is a video circulating of a Russian soldier who's head is being cut off by rebels. It's disgusting.

Daniel Pearl did not deserve do die, and especialy not in this way. What to think of his wife, his friends and co-workers? I bet they are not waiting for his death to be aired.

If people want to see stuff like this, just run to the video-rental and pop a horror in the video.

You know, Cinnamon Girl, I'm torn. But I'll tell you this -- while this tape will sicken anyone watching, it will frighten some into submission -- but the predominant number of people will become infuriated. This is NOT the reaction these jerks are expecting.

I don't like viewing such stuff. But sometimes it is as nessary as viewing Hitler tapes of mass murder to know that evil is worth fighting at all means. The extend of human evil is very sickening, but Evil is forgotten and sugar coated and sometimes the truth can be effective tool against the peaceniks.

According to Chung, that portion of the tape is then followed by a 50-second section containing graphic scenes of violence against Pearl. "I will not describe [the violent scenes] out of respect to Daniel Pearl and his family," Chung said.

Out of respect to Daniel Pearl and his family, this tape should NOT be shown.

The stipulation I made in my question is that it would only be considered if the Pearl family wanted it to be shown. I don't know what they would say.
