Hey Ironman, maybe you're not a liberal but you think like one at least today...Several said they would pull the trigger.

Some are not just theoretical liberals on here, some have pulled the trigger before.

Yes, I would pull on those guys, all 200 plus, then I'd sleep soundly looling at my 5 yr old son.

"Prisoner Of War"

What war? We have not declared war. We are hunting terorists until further notice. Kinda like world cops. While I believe we should be over there kicking some butt, I also believe we should be doing it under a declaration of war. Until then, that soldier is not a POW, but a Peace Officer in custody of our enemy.

Although I see your point, Wars are actually obsolete and there have been many conflicts that are wars that just h avent been called Wars.

Despite seeing your point, I think it's insulting to the guys over there fighting.

I'd gladly pull the trigger too. I thought I'd just challenge the bloodthirsty Freepers who think its no problem at all to line up the prisoners today at Gitmo and gun them all down. Lets be real hear. We give them a trial first and then we shoot them.

No problem with giving them a trial first (wish I was as optimistic as you on the result)

I was just responding to you hypothetical question re pulling the trigger.

"Wars are actually obsolete"

Wars are not obsolete. They have a direct and distinct purpose. I think the military is being sold short and not being given the full support they deserve. Under war, the US would dominate A'stan, make it friendly, then return it back to itself as a sovereign nation. Under the terms we have now, the soldiers are expected to fit a political mold of fighting. A wide mold for now, but a politically driven one. Viet Nam, anyone? I want the military to be told "Go get 'em". Not "Go get 'em, and clear everything with us, and, oh yeah, we'll be sending you our list of priorities." Under war, captured men are POWs. No war, they can be anything the enemy desires, including "terrorists", as the NVA would call us. War means the military has command of their actions. No war means the politicians retain full control, even if they give the military some slack. There are more things to war. Maybe after Korea, this country has forgotten what war means. "Do it if it feels good!"

...after Korea, we have forgot what war means...

The last declared war was WWII

Of course it's just my opinion, but wars certainly are obsolete as measured by conflicts and deaths and the lack of declared wars. Which is a pretty fair assessment.

If these Al Qaida pigs murdered a captured American prisoner, we should kill any of them who fall into our hands and bury them in a pigskin.

Look BoPepper, I glad you had my offensive post removed but do you need to keep yammering about what I said in the heat of the moment. You don't know me well enough to give these folks here the impression that I condon murder, who do you think you are?

I am the daughter of a WW11 Navy officer, the wife of a Navy officer, Vietnam, and the mother that happens to have a son in the Air Force now, his where-abouts is unknown to us at the moment, I want you to back-off. Talk all you want but lay off me.

But you can put this in the bank and draw interest, I hate Daschle, he is a "Troll" a coward, an armchair dictator that cares squat for the American people. If he were any kind of man he would take his "concerns" to the president and stop running to the Boob Tubes, his face makes us sick. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

If I were young enough, I'd say, put a gun in my hand, point me in the right direction, with a little PMS to hype me up, I'd kill me some al-Qaeda and Taliban, for my son.

We shouldn't expect the liberal media or the democrats to make too much fuss about this- they hate America after all. (DU thread on this topic- be forewarned they think it was tit for tat because of our "barbaric treatment of the Gitmo bunch)

Your all CAP letters says it all, you feel the disgust that we all have about the liberal press and the Europeon nations. You can go to the bank that the fighters who killed the americans were indeed also killed. The brothers on that mountain became of age after that battle.
