I asked my dog to hold his breath as we waited for the answer to your question. But he just looked at me and breathed. He must know something.

Do you suppose there is a tag team effort going on ?

Calvinist: 3 verses given for God being the first cause of our belief!
Arminian: 0 explaination on how we are the first cause of our belief!
Augustine: For He chose us, not because we believed, but that we might believe, lest we should be said first to have chosen Him, and so His word be false (which be it far from us to think possible), "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you." Neither are we called because we believed, but that we may believe; and by that calling which is without repentance it is effected and carried through that we should believe.

Do you suppose there is a tag team effort going on ? Yeah, it is God vs. the Arminian on how to believe; and "the Rock" is not with the Arminian version today.

Sound familiar, L$MP? Elect rifying, Pastor Woody!
To: Codie
Yes I do believe that God is merciful. He does not need to save any ,as we are all sinners and totally unwrthy of His grace..
But the nature of God is manifold. He is Love and Mercy and Justice ,He is righteousl and He is holy.
The justice of God demands that we all burn in Hell.....but in His Mercy He has set aside a remnent for Himself. So who is worthy of God's Grace and Mercy?
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
No there is none worthy of his grace and Mercy.
Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Can a dead man repent?
Rom 9:15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.
To: Codie
I believe Christ is merciful. What do you think? I agree! BTW, no one else can answer this question: How does one believe in Christ--how can one be saved?

You do the best you can,and in the end you rely on the compassion of Christ.Salvation is not an assured thing.

Total Depravity is false. All the little children possess the light and like good fairies they will sprinkle you with that light, but you have to believe! Clap your hands real hard now, and go Tinkerbell! Tinkerbell!

How would I know?

You do the best you can,and in the end you rely on the compassion of Christ.Salvation is not an assured thing. The way you explain it, I agree! So, being saved is "doing the best you can?" Is this the Roman Catholic version?

I don't believe that there is anything to be saved from. So, if you don't know if Stalin is with God, then where do people go when they die?

As stated many times before, I don't know what really happens after death, but I would like to think something does.
To: Codie
The passages I quoted?
Because of Adams sin we are spiritually dead. Our fellowship with God is completely broken.Romans tells us that none seeketh after God in that condition.
So I ask can a dead man seek God?
God is love ..and in spite of our rebellion and sin He seeks us..just as He called out to Adam. He is the one that initiates the saving relationship not us. We like Adam run and hide from God. He saves us..there is nothing we can do to save ourselves.
He will have Mercy on those He will have mercy on..
He is the author and finisher of our faith..He gives us the desire to seek Him, He gives us the ability to repent......it is He that makes the dead alive, the blind see and the lame walk..
Man neither seeks that or desires that without His grace first.
May I suggest you read these two posts? Posts 446& 447
That may help you to understand our condition thanks to Adam
