Also LOL - "What we have here is a failure to communicate."
I didn't mean experience with Procomm, I meant experience with programming, observing, and troubleshooting industrial electronic equipment that uses serial comms. I see now that your post 96 was in response to an earlier post of mine, not my post 95, which explained what I was doing with Procomm. Our posts probably crossed each other. In any case, I'm still using the copy of Procomm DOS I was using in 1994. As far as the program still being around, DataStorm has a Windogs version that seems to have some of the same limitations for my application that aggravate me for free when I use HyperTerminal.

Yeah, I figured that was what you were talking about- I have done tones of RS-232 programming for industrial controls in the past- I used to know the UART inside and out. If I can be of any assistance I would be happy to oblige

Thanks very much. I really appreciate the offer, and may very well take you up on this at some point. You mention a background in industrial controls. What types of things have you been/are you involved in?
To: Still Thinking
I have written programs to control hardware through the serial port- I have written and aircraft sensor reader/graphical display, an industrial weight scale interface, software to interface to a 'tube bender' (i can't recal the real name of the machine- but it bent tubing to specs downloaded) etc...
All rs-232 programs are the same- just tell me the expected data stream (inputs and outputs) and I can take it from there- I am familiar with break-out boxes and protocol analyzers for debugging (sometimes it is NOT my code that is the problems - and this is the way to show it... LOL )

your #201 was a well-reasoned statement that had the added
virtue of including some good advice.
having said that however, i feel it incumbent to remind you
that sometimes it just feels good to holler really loud ...
(whomever/whatever) SUCKS ! ! !

First, I try to reason with them. When that fails, as it mostly does with those types of folks, I'd be taking your advice. Thanks for the reminder though, I'll definitely keep your pointer in mind during my next encounter with these mental juveniles.
