``These are cozy political relationships . . . If you have a problem in Washington, there are only a few firms to go to and Akin, Gump is one of them,'' Cannistraro said.

Cannistraro pointed out that Idris hired Akin, Gump during the Clinton presidency, when Clinton confidante Vernon Jordan was a partner at the firm. ``He hired them because Vernon Jordan had influence . . . that's a normal political exercise where you are buying influence,'' he said.

Why the was? Isn't Vernon Jordan still a partner at Akin Gump?

"In addition to the royal family, the firm's Saudi clients have included bin Mahfouz, who hired Akin, Gump when he was indicted in the BCCI banking scandal in the early 1990s. In 1999, the Saudi's placed bin Mahfouz under house arrest after reportedly discovering that the bank he controlled, National Commercial Bank in Saudi Aabia, funneled millions to charities believed to be serving as bin Laden fronts."

Reactivate that BCCI file, dear sister. Isn't it amazing how the more things change, the more they remain the same?

Are Akin Gump really lawyers, or just dressed up 'painters' specializing in WHITEWASH? {;~)

You expressed my sentiments better than I ever could. I am grateful to you for you wonderful reply.

You know, there was a reason why people wanted a third party. It is because they sensed the same things you just wrote about and that we really only have one party, not two parties. They really wanted a legit "second" party

Buchanan and Perot failed but the need for a real "second" party remains for all the same good reasons. The top level D's and R's did everything dirty thing they could to destroy any legit and serious third (second) party movement challenge and they will agasin try to destroy any new serious movement using the same dirty underhanded tactics, You mark my words on this.

The country has been and is still being betrayed by the same top level D's and R's you wrote about.

The BCCI Affair, Kerry/Brown Report - December, 1992

The report filed, dead, and buried during the 'lame duck' session of President George HW Bush. No need to explain that the 'incoming' Clinton Administration did not, with its majority in both houses in 1993 and 1994, look too deeply into this after using 'tons' of taxpayer funds to bail out the industry.

To concerned about politics;

There seem to be a growing number of Freepers that were staunch supporters of Bush that are becoming very unhappy with Bush's conduct and that of Mueller and Ashcroft.

I voted Republican (as the lesser of the two evils)in the hopes that the extensive fraud and chicanery at the DOJ and FBI would be brought to a halt.

Bush,Ashcroft, and Mueller seem to be following in the exact same footsteps as Clinton,Reno & Freeh, it certainly is not unreasonable or Bush bashing to expect these individuals to conduct fair and impartial investigations into very serious allegations of misconduct and criminal activity.

Just how difficult is it to clean up the DOJ & FBI, simply administer the polygraph test, fire those that can't pass the polygraph test,(You can't join the FBI if you can't pass the polygraph test, so why should you be able to fail it after you join the FBI and still be an FBI agent).

We are simply asking adults to be held accountable for their conduct, regardless of whether they are a Republican or Democrat.

Maybe the author isn't as "hung up" on the R or D after their names as you are.

More likely the author was trying to obscure the fact that, if there is an Enron scandal, it mostly if not completely involves the Democrats. Such a thing has been known to happen with the American mainstream press, you know.

It certainly appears he's not interested. I have read two posts here to the best of my memory , little headsups that there ARE attempts being made behind the scenes.

I certainly HOPE SO. So far, it looks like plenty of nothing, same ole stall, delay, deny.

About the only thing I can say I approve of that is being done now is removing illegals in the country, and as soon as he applies it to all ethnicities the happier I'll be on that.
