If this is true, this is a very bad idea. If Bush and co. were that serious about it, they should have done something about it a year ago. Now it will just look like they are saying, "Oh yeah? You wanna come after us on Enron? Fine, then we are going to go after Clinton on the vandalism stuff. YOu drop your probe, and we will forget about it again until you come after us again for something else." or that it will look like they are trying to divert attention away from Enron and try to focus it on clinton. Very petty

Bush had his chance to follow through on this a year ago, he chose not to and he should stick with that decision.

Nail 'em with Felony grand theft.
That should look good in the headlines. Stealing treasures is illegal, and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. :-D

"the president and his aides are now said to be "quietly pushing" a probe" "

"Sec. 702. - General Accounting Office
(a)
The General Accounting Office is an instrumentality of the United States Government independent of the executive departments. "

The White House has only reported the damage to the GAO.
Walker's complaints at having to do his job and investigate destruction of public property should be directed towards the congress that gave his agency that duty.
If he no longer wants to work at the GAO, he can leave for a cushy DNC arranged job.

It seems strange that they wait until over 1 year after the alleged acts to request an investigation.

How can this be? How many times have I read on FR that Pres Bush, AG Ashcroft, would never investigate the Clintons?

The real difference is, these things are not broadcast on a day-to-day basis. That is why we needed then, and now, to have some faith in our president, and whose he trusts to take care of the corruption that took place during the Clinton years.

This is, indeed, good news, and no "reversal"; just a leak of what has been happening for the last year, but quietly.

God, it's about time that Dubya went on the offensive. The wicked witch of north has time and again slapped the administration. At what point does slapping begin to hurt? I like the adage "the best defense is a good offense." Why doesn't Bush goes after Hitlery Clintoon with other things like SEC investigating the $1,000 pork bellies investment that turned into $100,000? FBI investigating McAuliffe's using the bank to pay for the Clintoon's New York digs which in turn due to extra building construction to house the Secret Service that Clintoons are billing the taxpayers for the extra construction? This is for starters because this is about a white trash carpetbagger with high aspirations getting away with a many illegal activities.

I hope this report is correct.
I have always felt that the White House is the PEOPLE's house, and whatever they did to it, they did to us.
I was disappointed at the time, that W didn't seem to take this insult, as an insult to us all, not just to him.
I do hope that all that those trashy clintoons did comes back and bites them in the butt.

..... the GAO probe will also examine evidence that Mrs. Clinton [Stole and] absconded with furniture and other White House artifacts to "decorate" her [Ill-gotten houses] in New York and Washington .....

Why the "GAO probe?"

If there's evidence call the cops.

[Maybe the same park "police" who covered up her involvement in Vince Foster's murder will to come to her aid again?]

And drag the treasonous, lying, thieving, mass-murdering, co-serial-rapist gangster bitch off to jail!

sorry to jump in late, but this is a joke, right? They had people murdered, raped and pillaged, committed numerous crimes including treasonous actions with Loral / China documented on this site and now the administration is going after their underlings for THIS? Better than nothing but it's quite pathetic.

...adding that the Bushies wanted to redirect the probe's previous focus from the Eisenhower office building to Mrs. Clinton official digs.

This is odd coming from Newsmax/Limbacher. Did either ever use the term "Clintonites" or "Clintoids" or "Clinton Butt Kissers" in any stories about Clinton staffers? Just curious.

The request for action on the Clinton vandalism charges prompted complaints from GAO chief David Walker, who told the News, "they want us to do more work than is even reasonable."

The Clinton probe could prove distracting to Walker's focus in recent weeks: prying loose White House records on meetings between Vice President Dick Cheney and Enron officials.

Don't recall Walker complaining about his workload prior to the Cheney / Enron probe. The fact that "Immediately prior to his appointment as Comptroller General, Mr. Walker was a partner and global managing director of Arthur Andersen LLP's human capital services practice and a member of the board of Arthur Andersen Financial Advisors" couldn't have any connection, could it?

The shift could mean the GAO probe will also examine evidence that Mrs. Clinton absconded with furniture and other White House artifacts to decorate her private mansions in New York and Washington.

After they make the crooks return the furniture. Let's have another ball! WOO HOO! "The silverware was returned" Party!

My 2 cents: The President has had it with these skumbags, and rightfully so.

They couldn't just pick-up and move along, NOOOOOO..they had to push this man (our President)! Well, you mess with the Bull, you get the horns.

My take: IT'S ABOUT TIME, GW! No more Mister Nice Guy!

I am a conservative and usually vote for the person but in all honesty unless the Republicans take the gloves off and fight the Liberal establishment I doubt I ever vote again and Ive not missed and election since the 1960s.The Republicans have a tendacy to cower to liberals and the liberal establishment knows it and uses it to their advantage. Take off the gloves George. This means Enron, Global Crossing,Chinagate,FBI Filegate and anything else in the Clinton Administration.

"We tried to be gracious, but the last administration would not take graciousness."

Klintonites not gracious? Egad!
But, I suppose they were too focused on that "most ethical administration in history" thing.
Can't we put some of that Ozark Trash in jail now?
