A) I don't watch CBS, so I can't judge whether this Marine exercise means anything, other than I'm generally against letting the military get too comfortable with make-pretend wars in American cities. You train for the mission, don't you know.

B) That was awesome - the thing with Sigarmed.

FFAST may have been an unofficial acronym in 90-91 but according to Battalion history, the two FAST Companies weren't established until 1998.

Morning Grunts.

After spending 12 years as an 0311, from 84' to 96', I would have to say the Battalion History is incorrect. I was in 1/8 from 92' to 96' and I had a few marines from FAST (thats the acronym I remember) Company assigned to my squad. I could have been called FFAST, but I remember it as FAST Company.

As for who is right or wrong in the original argument, I don't know. I was in MSG Bn for 90' to 92', and 1/8 from 92' to 96' and only remember hearing about FAST Company.

Semper Fi,

Marine Inspector

Funny thing is, a FAST operator (and Marine for that matter) wouldn't go back and forht with anyone trying to verify their identity.

There was never anything so special about FAST (and yes, never FFAST) that wannabes need to pretend to have been in it.

And yes, I am jumping into an issue that is none of my business, but I served with FAST and treat that part of my career seriously. Soooo, I can't stand posers.

The simple question that will prove without a doubt whether anyone was at FAST during that time is what the name was of the barmaid who pretty much ran the MarBar. Answer that one and there can be no more doubt.
