Bad is an adjective, and adjectives modify nouns. In the sentence, "bad" is used to modify the verb "go," which is bad grammar, but good style. It should, by all the rules of grammar, read "half badly." Stick with "half bad." It's easier on the ears.

I taught English in Japan for far too long.
"This is a pen. I am a boy. My sister is younger than my mother. Is your father older than your brother?" Repeat that a zillion times, with sincerity, for an idea of what the work's like.

This is about the last place I would look. Half the people here appear to think the word 'Britain' is spelled 'Britian'. Most peculiar.

Larry Parks' day in court Monday didn't go half bad
Larry sounds like a nut.
Try:
Larry Parks had a better day in court this Monday than most expected.
Or:
Larry Parks' day in court went well on Monday.
