SabraAmerican is indeed an anti-semite (against Arabs that is) and anti-Islam also.

C'mon, this is kinda silly.

While it's certainly true that Arabs are semites, the term "anti-semite" was coined in 1879 by a German Jew-hater named Wilhelm Harrih, as a scientific name for his philosophy concerning Jews.

Sure, he was a wacko, but that's the doofus etymological origin of the word and its parlance to this day. Trying to redefine it now is not only pointless, but doesn't clarify anything.

We can stipulate from time to time that Arabs and Jews are both of Semitic stock, and if you want to call someone "anti-Arab" or "anti-Moslem," just use those terms.

You can use them against me if you like, since I agree with Sabra more than I disagree.

However, you may want to note that I've called no one on this thread an anti-semite.

I never said otherwise. I was just pointing to the sad irony that many of those who see an anti-semite under every bed are much like their counterparts on the left (such as Al Sharpton) who see racists under every bed. In my view, the name calling and ad hominum attacks are the silly parts of this thread. What ever happened to discussing the issues?

Check out my post at #934, and check out the links. I sincerely doubt the the point of the article or the thread was anything other than name calling.

The silence or the name calling of the "America Firsters" has been most eloquent in this regard.

THIS year and in 2002, we are EXPANDING aid to Russia, including paying them off so their scientists won't sell nukes to rogue nations...like they have already. So what is the point of your continuous bashing of Israel, when the country you claim to be from is not the be all and end all heaven on earth you seem to be saying it is and receives far more in just about everything from the US than Israel can ever hope to?

So I gather you aren't able to produce evidence, that we could use to continue discussion on the factual basis?

Huffing and puffing is what you can do well.

Congratulations on being singled out as two of the most virulent posters.

Singled out where? This thread is too long to wade through kommissar whining, LOL!

Happy New Year to you and all American patriots too!

One thing I'm not fond of though is Russian cuisine as I've been exposed to it; holy borsch is it in need of Italian stewardship.

Very few can do it right. It's like burger in America: there are McDonald's and there are better alternatives. My parents did it right, and I tell you, it IS holy. I've been always dissapointed with all other recipes. It's an art, that few master, or even know how to do properly.

What else do they do but hang around FR and shout "amen, brother!" to each other every time Ariel Sharon farts?

Justin, is that the melody of your elevated debate I hear?

Comrade, we are virulent "commie backgrounds" now. Progress again. It's still much better than "Kommissar", LOL!

Where? Do I have to wade through a ton of the kommissar hand-wringing, hair-pulling and rolling-on-the-ground, to see that? LOL!

Leopold Weiss, otherwise known as Muhammad Asad, was a founding father of Pakistan?

I always thought that dubious distinction belonged to Mohammed Ali Jenna, often Gandhi's nemesis at the Indian National Congress.

Although it was a struggle to wade through the 'denial' screams on this thread, it was a pleasure to read your post regarding the terrorists that high-jacked the ideals of Zionism and ended up ruling Israel.

BTW, those that deny this by using the guilt by association ploy should remember that the US Constitution is most likely quoted on many an odd site.

Dear Sabertooth:

I apologize for not answering your quite reasonable posts. Problem: the links you provided to the particular numbered posts didn't work. I know, I know, I could've navigated through the whole thing, but remember, I am writing other stuff while taking "fun" breaks to post here. I absolutely promise to go back and answer your questions, which are eminently reasonable from what I can see. Okay now, back to work for me.....

Thanks for the link.

Russia has received only about $200 million a year in grant aid from the United States

Thanks. Russia probably pays several billions a year in loan interests, so that grant aid is non-essential for the viability of the country. And as far as I understand, this grant aid is aimed at very specific projects.

I remember when Russia made a move of going to stop importing chicken from the US, which I believe was subsidized by the US and may have been included into this grant aid, the US put a lot of pressure for Russia to continue, because that aid was essentially an aid to American corporations that would have been disbursed anyway. In other words, some amount of that inessential aid, is just throwaway money, as far as America is concerned.

Fair enough. Thanks.

And I confess I did botch the links earlier, but the ones at #934 are good (and so is that one!).

I don't know, comrades...
Why our American friends have such a thin skin?
Call them "antisemite", "nazi", "commie" and they go nuts.
Well, I know why. They should read more:
(...) if "vile speech" causes assassination, then Israel should have had an endless carnage of its political leaders ever since independence (if not beforehand).

Israeli political discourse is and has always been characterized by rhetorical overkill, ad hominem slander, and unrestrained high-decibel shrieking.

Anyone with any doubts should go read the Protocols of the Knesset from the 1950's, when even back then--in the pre-television era--Knesset debate was constantly peppered with cries of "Fascist," "Traitor," "Dictator," "Criminal," etc., coming from all sides of the chamber. David Ben-Gurion himself frequently referred to his main opponent Jabotinsky as "Vladimir Hitler."

Perhaps it is our proximity to the Mediterranean, but political discussion in Israel is and always has been uncivilized. (Any doubters should watch the weekly political barroom brawl on Israeli television, Popolitika.) (...)

http://www.afsi.org/OUTPOST/96FEB/feb5.htm

Hm... Vladimir Hitler? What have this dude done to be called that?

I would think that plenty of members of the Knesseth come or came from Eastern Europe where they were well-trained in fierce argument. After all, the Polish Diet was not a place for the faint-hearted, either.

Speaking of real anti-Semitism as opposed to the PR-kind: a Fellow of Davenport College at Yale told me that well into the sixties of the 20th Century Yale accepted one Jew and one Catholic each year. That was enough to fulfill the quota as Yale saw it. In order to make sure that neither of these two 'foreign imports' would pollute the rest of the University's student body, Yale put both of them in one room. This sort of thing would have been unthinkable in any European country at that time (and indeed, well before and after that time).
