Sorry on my political spectrum libertarians are left of liberals...right of--closer to anarchists--

look at OWJust about denies everything and makes up the rest---juvenile--"do your own thing--don't hurt the flowers"!

Anarchists-libertarianism will result in a police state--social engineering!

The Conservative Art is Adam Smith---enlightened self interest(personal responsibility--LAWS) via the invisible hand---market forces/decisions--freedom...not central control collapse!

Hee Hee. We know all about Adam Smith. "The Wealth of Nations" is practically required libertarian reading.

You crack me up!

Jacoby received a four month suspension for writing an article about the fate of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Several articles have been written on this topic, including one by Rush Limbaugh's father. Jacoby decided to write on this topic for his July 4th article last year because the other articles had some historical inaccuracies. He did his own research and told the familiar story in his own words, correcting the errors in the other versions. There was no plagiarism and no intent to claim the premise was original. In fact, in an email circulated before the article was published, Jacoby mentioned the other articles and explained why he was writing a new one. However to save space, the explanatory paragraph was omitted from the published version.

The Globe gave him a 4 month suspension for this omission, even though no one even accused him of plagiarism or intent to deceive anyone. The suspension smacks of deliberate retaliation for his well-known conservative positions. Thus, the liberal Globe editors silenced the only conservative voice on the staff for the duration of the 2000 Presidential campaign.

BTW I read your article and thought it was outstanding. I hope you'll post more of your articles here on FR.

"Sorry on my political spectrum libertarians are left of liberals...right of--closer to anarchists--"

FReedom does not equal anarchy, my FRiend, it implies and infers self-control and self-responsibility. I'm all for folks following rules, I just don't think we need so many friggin' laws at the Federal Level. Lib'rals are all about State-Control of everything...that's far from what I or OWK or any true libertarian is about.

"look at OWJust about denies everything and makes up the rest---juvenile--"do your own thing--don't hurt the flowers"!"

IMHO, OWK takes pure libertarianism beyond what we will ever have to worry about in day-to-day life, but he's pretty damn consistent in sticking to his principles. Why you would chose to chide him for that is troublesome to me, and I say that as a FRiend who respects yer opinion.

Good find.

The arrogance of liberals boggles the mind. They think they can discard 4,000 years of acquired wisdom in favor of the latest pseudo-scientific and untested ideas put forward by self-proclaimed 'experts.'

I know a liberal pacifist couple whose son rebelled by becoming a sargeant in the U.S. Army. Too bad John Walker Lindh didn't go that route instead!

I was thinking that. Hopefully, more kids will figure out that becoming conservatives is the perfect way to rebel against their liberal parents.

Adam Smith??? Don't make me laugh.

While I agree strongly with the fact that JW's parent's failed miserably, I have to agree with CindyDawg that he is responsible for his own actions. Don't make another "victim" out of this waste of skin. He dug his own grave..let him lie in it

Agree. I don't think Jacoby is suggesting this absolves Lindh from responsibility for what he did, and neither am I. If convicted of treason, he should be executed IMO.

OTOH if the evidence shows that the Al Qaeda had him drugged/brainwashed, that should be considered. Based on what we now know, it doesn't look like that's the case -- I think he voluntarily decided to fight against his country -- but all the evidence isn't in yet.

"The social irresponsible...sociopaths-criminals---you have a problem with that?"

These 'sociopath-criminals' dominate the highest positions in society's institutions, particularly government positions.

And yes, I have one H*LL of a big problem with that; that's why I'm a libertarian conservative.

I wasn't supporting the actions of these parents. They are going to have to live with what they have done. It's just that I tire of hearing excuses for criminal behavior due to how people are raised.
