How about Illinois governor George Ryan? Not bad enough that he runs into office on bribes taken at drivers' license facilities while he was Secretary of State (and the bribing parties have caused many fatal accidents as well), but he no sooner takes office on a conservative platform than he brings in a Lt. Governor who is now endorsed for Gov. by Gloria Steinam (!); he stops the death penalty; he takes a trip to Cuba for no particular reason and buddies up with Fidel...

"I don't know if you are old enough to remember the comic strip "Little Abner", but there was a character named Senator Foghorn, or maybe it was Fogbound. Anyway, the character fit Warner to a T. " Yep...I'm old enough to remember the cartoon, but I can't recall Senator Foghorn/Fogbound off the top of my head. Do recall a cute blonde farmgirl, though...is that the right comic strip? Yer description of Gentleman Jawn as "our native windbag son" is appropos, and I could almost stomach that in a GOPer if it wasn't fer his propensity to stab real, honest-to-goodness conservatives between the shoulder blades. In fact, I'm surprised he didn't try to take out Senator Allen in his vile jealousy...betcha he wouldda if he figgered he couldda gotten away with it!!
Now...if we could just agree on his replacement in time for next Spring's primary!!
I'll be sure to bump you up on any threads I see--or start--pertaining to this most-important issue fer Virginians, my FRiend.

"Chris Mathews(of MSNBC) is going to run against Specter!" Please say yer joking!! If true, what the heck's up with PA?! They show the wherewithal to do what's right in electing and re-electing Rick Santorum, a proud Conservative, then keep the major RINO Scottish Law Expert Spectre in place...that's weird enuff!! But to elect a FRiscoBay Kennedy Lib'ral like Chris Matthews...SHEEEESH!!!
Please say it ain't so...it's such a purty State.

This is a no brainer, the current king of the photo op, Johnny McCain stands alone, on this one.
I am humiliated that my state forced this clown on the rest of you.

Hey VA FReepers...I just nominated Senator Jawn Wahnah I loathe John Warner but he's a Democrat.
Any other day I'd vote Mcain, but right now Ashcroft and Bush are more of a threat.

Michael Bloomberg, mayor elect of the City of New York, who switched from the democrapic party to the Republican Party soley to run for mayor, because he couldn't get the nomination running as a democrap.
I would agree however he stated he only ran on the GOP ticket because he did not want to fight with the other liberals from the start. This is not some new discovered stance. He was only allowed to do so because the GOP has not had any balls to fight for the northeast

"Paxon dropped out because he's gay and Newt was going to rat him out." Do a google search on "Paxon gay Molinari".

I think it was Sen. Fogbound. Foghorn Leghorn was the huge rooster in the cartoon who befriended the baby chicken hawk. Senator Fogbound is an accurate nickname for Mistah Jawn, for sure.

Well now, Slim. You know how I feel. Warner is a CINO which makes him a typical republican. Dr. Ron Paul should always be voted RINO of the year, every year. He stands for the Constitution and his brand of conservatism is mine: a commitment to the restoration of the US Constitution. There's nothing more important to conserve and republican politicians are almost all constitutional illiterates if not outright traitors.
The GOP is in the process of merging with the democrats, mainly because they're too dimwitted to keep up the charade of being in opposition to the dems. The dems can lie more convincingly and that is the trait that has republican politicians in awe of the dems.
Let's hope the GOP formalizes the merger before '04 so that conservatives won't be gulled into giving Geedub a second term or throwing the election to the dems by failing to support a conservative if one can be found to run in time.

GOSH -- THERE ARE SO MANY TO CHOSE FROM, WHY ONLY ONE CHOICE?
1)McManiac
2)Arlen Specter
3)Peter King
4)Chris Shays
5) (but soon to be #2) Rino Bloomberg whose first two appointments, thus far, are democraps - surprise, surprise.

Excellent idea for a book. I can picture the republican pompom shakers deluging Amazon with rave reviews for the "pragmatic genius" exhibited by the author.
It's good to see a fellow conservative join the forum. I get a little lonely surrounded by republicans. ;-)
