Does anybody in the f***ing Congress ever read the Constitution? The 27th Amendment prohibits an immediate pay raise...there must be an election before it takes effect...so the voters can reject the selfish scum.

I'd like to thank the GOP for being such good sports, and only taking $4,900.00 instead of five grand, and making the gov't smaller, and relieving us of a 30% tax burden....

That's less than $3,000,000. It's 8738 $300 tax rebates. That's 1% of the population of ONE congressional district. Surely you have better things to worry about.

"After a debate that lasted five minutes late Friday night, the Senate used a 65-33 procedural vote to defeat an effort by Sens. Russell Feingold, D-Wis., to stop the increase from taking effect.""

Strategically engineered to permit the Liberal Dems to come away from this smelling quite clean; never mind the Dashole's running the show.
And that MISERABLE SOB Lott & just enough of his boys on the Right to swing this larceny simply went along for the ride.

...god am I ever sick to death of this kinda crap.

Good point, but the 27th amendment states that Congress cannot grant itself pay raises in the middle of the term of each respective Congresscritter. Did you check the "yeas" and "nays" to see if those who voted against it were in the middle or the end of their terms? (I didn't , but it might be interesting)

You're on each of the threads going on this issue, aren't you? Well, you didn't answer the question --- What congresscritter do you Intern For?

And here's my statement on another thread --- "Remember when the huge pay raise was implemented some years back? The one that moved "Public Service" out of the equation and made it a valid "Career"? We were forced to listen to how this would be of benefit to us tax paying peons because the Quality of Politician would improve. More average joes could afford to be in Congress.

They've got a sense of humor."

This really angers me. People are out of work and the ones that are employed are really worried about being fired next. How can they just give themselves a pay raise. They disgust me. They should set an example and refuse a pay raise.

I think the local guy does--this week he "quoted" my wife well over 700 bucks for a cap on one lousy tooth. Not even a root canal (amazed he didn't go after THAT too.) And to think I was feeling sorry for dentists 30 years or so ago when they announced that fluoride would stop decay. And we think drug companies are ripping us off.

There are dentists making more than Senators

They do a lot less damage to. Our congress people are not undercompensated by any means. There is probably good economic reason why people are willing to spend millions to sit in congress. We could slash the pay and still get qualified people to run.

"WILL WE AS A COUNTRY PASS THIS ON TO OUR CHILDREN??!!"

*We* already have, br.
The body is very sick, indeed.
So much so in fact, all that's left looks to be death.

...if this seedy move is indicative of our health.
