I just saw this. Christopher Hitchens, another guest on the panel, brought up Clinton's bombing of the Sudanese pharmaceutical plant. Maher responded, "What about the three Special Forces agents who were just killed in Afghanistan?" (The audience applauded him--what a group of paid-for Maher plants.) Hitchens responded, "Oh, don't applaud for me (laughter). The difference is that Clinton ORDERED the bombing of this specific target. This is not to be confused with an accident." (The audience got quiet here, evidently, and rightfully, ashamed of their applause for Maher's stupid comment.) Maher hurls out accusations and baseless observations, assuming that no one will call him on it (after all, his usual guests are brain-dead celebs.) I don't agree with Hitchens all the time, but HE is VERY sharp and does not suffer fools gladly. You could tell that he couldn't stand Maher.

As usual, most of you guys are just tripping over yourselves to take Maher out of context. He meant that just as Bush isn't directly to blame for the soldiers who died in the accident, Clinton wasn't solely to blame for the bombing of the Sudan medicine factory. Chris Hitchens pointed out that while Bush is not involved in picking targets in Afghanistan, Clinton picked that factory over the objections of the Joint Chiefs and everyone else. Maher was of course wrong, as he usually is, but he wasn't blaming Bush for the accident. If some of you would pay attention to the debate instead of searching for more opportunities to bash Maher, you wouldn't make yourselves look so foolish.

Ok. I may be three years too late on this post, but let's look at what Bill "meant". Of course that depends on what your definition of "is" is.Oops. Wrong Bill. Or maybe not. He learns spin words from the otherBill.
Let's look at the constitution. Yes. Clinton ORDERED the attack on Kosov without congress's approaval. The last time I checked, that was unconstitutional.
We have a three branch system for a reason. To make sure the other branch doesn't abuse its power. Apparently, Clinton failed US History.
