If I were a REAL snitch, I would have reported the many abusive private replies I have received. I have not done so.

The permanant banning of Arator was not due to my report. He incurred a temporary banning due to something I reported, and was then reinstated. I am unaware of why he was permanently banned...perhaps that is explained in a previous reply on this thread, but I haven't read the entire thread. However, because I informed him that I had hit the abuse button in that instance, I am the person he has fixated on as the reason for his ban.

If I were one who pulled the trigger on everyone I disagreed with, have you never wondered why YOU are still here? Logic, logic!

I am glad you approve of the President's handling of the war. I believe eventually you will approve of some other things as well. (Feel free to discount that as optimism from the Head Bushie Cheerleader. LOL!)

There is no free lunch, as Robinson is trying to tell your type, so some standard needs to be established or Jim will go out of business just like the other dot coms.

Well Free Republic is just a group of people who joined together to discuss the news and to engage in activism projects. FR was just a personal thing when it started. It was not a business and not a charity and was never intended to be. It was only when it grew to the point that I could no longer fund it myself that the participants decided to chip in and send money to pay for the resources. They did this on their own. Then along came the WP/LAT and threatened to sue. We decided that what we were doing as a group was important enough that we would not knuckle under to their demands and that we would tough it out. The members decided to not only continue funding the expenses of the website, but also to fund the defense of the lawsuit. Then, I decided that we should probably incorporate to have some limited liability if others decided to file suit. The filing was not for the purposes of running a business. We are still just a group of people who are joined together to discuss politics and the news, etc. True, we attempted to file as a 501(C), but for various reasons that plan was abandoned. If some state agency wants to contact me and tell me that I am doing something contrary to their regulations, then I am perfectly willing to do whatever it takes to file or whatever to their satisfaction. Until that happens, I'm not worried about it. Thank you for your concern.

Here's one more FReeper's story. He can't post it here himself, so he asked me to do it.

I've been monitoring FR, but I've been banned as well.
I was summarily banned. I got not so much as a notice of why, or the duration of my banishment. All my posts were removed. I can't send mail, or post to my locale. So I'm angry to say the least.
I see that you have been reinstated to address the tyranny of FR. Well I feel that tyranny all too acutely. It disgusts me the amount of vile anti-Freedom that has cropped up on FR. We have people calling for torture, secret police, and star chambers and I have been banned? I know I never advocated such tyrannical measures. Come to think of it, my banishment is torturous, was carried out by a secret squad, and involved a quick, unappealable judgement.
The only thing I have ever advocated is people trying to freely live their lives based on cooperation with others, not coercion. I would like to continue to post my thoughts and learn from others as I once was able to do. But I would not want this privilege if with it comes acceptance that I could find myself banished in the same manner again. The rule of law seems as absent from FR as it is in our country. I hope that both change for the better.

Dear Miss Marple, about the abuse button (again)....

I'd hit it if some clod posted an x-rated picture or made a racist slur. There might be one or two other reasons to alert JR, but I can't think of them at the moment.

But to the point, when someone reports someone else because of what they posted,,,well,,,,that's political protectionism at it's worst.
