A good friend of mine bought an old Dodge pickup for parts. In the bed there was an extremely old ratchet. He took a wire brush and cleaned it up just enough to see the Craftsman logo on it. He took it Sears, and they gave him a brand new one.
Great warranty. I don't know if it applies to antlers, though.:)

Extremely rusty, that is, not that old. :)

I didn't know Silbury was in danger of collapsing. It'd be the crowning irony if, in our attempts to understand it, we wind up destroying Silbury altogether. Rather like what happened at Oak Island.

Neat story.
If the tool is a Sears Craftsman, they need to be reminded that it can be returned for a new one if it isn't working any more.

Has a resemblance to the ruins at North Salem. Maybe there are only a few ways to arrange stones that are still going to be standing after 3000-4000 years.

If it has three notches, DJJ, and red paint on the handle, sounds like one of mine.
And here I thought some druggie stole it for a fix.
Seriously blam, interesting article and follow-up articles.

Great article. One of my favorite things to do is to hunt for arrowheads. South Texas deer hunting leases are great for this. We have a pretty nice collection of deer & arrowheads.

It wasn't *really* discarded, just accidentally left in the yard by a preadult male.
Some things never change.

Interesting. Thank you.

"Has a resemblance to the ruins at North Salem. Maybe there are only a few ways to arrange stones that are still going to be standing after 3000-4000 years." My exact thoughts when I saw the picture of the chamber. (Mystery Hill also).
