I think that it already qualifies as a "Mass Annoyance"!

If the letter was postmarked Sept. 18, why wasn't it opened until today?

Thank goodness for the USPS - their laziness and ineptitude may have saved many lives.

Do you think this anthrax scare could be the work of real "right-wing" extremists?

Not a chance. What self-respecting "'right-wing' extremist" is going to give little Tommy priority over the Demonic Duo? (That would be Bill and Hill, for those of you keeping score at home.)

But why Daschle? Something smells about all this.

I think I have to agree. I was home sick yesterday and watched the entire slate of news conferences. While I don't doubt that the terrorists would target the Capitol, since they are going after important western symbols, I wondered why Daschle too. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because he's majority leader of the Senate. However, I think his office was reprehensible in the way they handled the information. After President Bush revealed the event in answer to a journalist's question, Lisa Myers of NBC called Daschle's office and was told that the initial report of a positive field test was false. CNN followed and reported the same thing. So for nearly an hour, both NBC and CNN reported that the field test had been negative (implying that the president was wrong). Then a reporter heard from Daschle's office that the letter had been postmarked in Texas. Excuse me? That was entirely false. So for about an hour, until Daschle held his press conference, it looked as though Bush had gotten his story wrong and nobody bothered to correct it. Only Fox did not run with the misinformation. During his press conf, I noticed Sen. Daschle had a flair for the dramatic reminiscient of X42.

Actually, it's a family joke. Cyanide tastes like 'bitter almonds'. ;-)

Oops. I knew that. Well, I didn't KNOW it, but I had heard it. I missed it. Sorry.
