I'm just curious. Did anything ever come out of the accusation that Shepard Smith tried to run a woman reporter over in Florida during the chad fiasco? I'm wondering if the story was a hoax or if charges were ever filed because the crime was potentially serious.

Because it's horrible English, that's why :) .. I don't want a newscaster to chum up to me, I want him (or her) to tell me what's going on. No more, and I certainly expect no less.

News writing in the present tense drives me UP THE WALL.

Oh, it was for real. They settled it somehow a few months ago. I think he, or Fox, agreed to pay her some $ to make the whole thing go away.

Thanks for the post. I enjoy Shep's style because it is refreshing and a pleasant change of pace. After listening to Mara Liason and Mort Kondrake (apologies - spelt them like they sound) and anticipating Bill O'Reilly, Shep lifts the spirit and fits the bill perfectly.
