"I thought the goal was a FREE Republic, not a moral autocracy. If someone isn't directly causing you harm, or in some way infringing on your natural rights, then shut your hole."

And that's not an autocratic suggestion?

Did you even read what I wrote, or is your emotionalism getting the better of you?

Let me repeat:

"...there is no excuse for mistreating anyone for what is done by consenting adults behind closed doors."

It appears the only thing that is causing these homophobes harm is their own tortured homo-erotic latent fantasies...

Was the issue of Guest's homosexuality known before his confirmation?

I'm tired of having the homosexual agenda 'thrust in my face', and having their politics 'shoved down my throat.' I just want to 'gag' on it.

Well put. I'm shocked that a Republican administration could humiliate us like this, sending a butt-pirate to represent the US. Disgusting.

Interesting that the "right" had a fit when klinton named a gay ambassador..but have let this slip under the radar..

I beleive denying someone a position because they chose to publicly acknowledge thier sexuality is passive mistreatment.

And I believe that for a Republican administration to acquiesce under the same circumstances is craven cowardice.

Everything can be labelled "passive mistreatment" in a culture that glorifies victimology as ours does. You may have come up with a new catch-phrase for the liberals to use in championing the destruction of this country. You ought to try to copyright it.

Keep in mind, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that there is no Constitutional right to sodomy. It's a matter for the states, and I support the "consenting adult" statutes in California.

But as far as public displays and stamps of approval, I think we need to draw an ethical line.

"Natural rights exist regardless of the law, I would have assumed you understood that. "

There's a difference between upending the plain meaning and original intent of the 2nd Ammendment, and ruling that there was no penumbra to the penumbra of the penumbral "right of privacy," that would require states to grant civil rights for sexual deviancy.

Keep in mind, homosexuality has always been inderstood to violate the "Laws of Nature."

In fact, didn't when he was Governor of Virginia, didn't Jefferson propose that homosexuals should be castrated and imprisoned for 10 years? Something like that.

Let me repeat again, this ISN'T how I beleive homosexuals should be treated. I'm just tossing out some historical perspective.

"The simple truth is, there is no basis to discriminate against homosexuals in a free society."

Follow your logic from this questionable axiom. Where does it end?

Incest? Group marriage? Bestiality? Public sex? Pedophilia?

What's your basis for limiting sexual freedom of expression to adults?

It can only be framed as a moral position. You can't deny any of these practices otherwise. You aren't as amoral as you'd like to think.

"Yeah, isn't that the fairy tale where the "hero" sends his own daughters to be gang-raped, then ends up doing them himself? "

I did not know that God had daughters. I know about His son, but not His daughters. What Bible are you using again?

The fact that the sexual orientation of Michael Guest, America's new ambassador to Romania, triggered such banner headlines, illustrates just how far many Romanians have to go before they accept even the concept of homosexuality, let alone having gay people in their midst.

Kate, honey, you're a retard. It has nothing to do with PCness and homophobia, it has to do with approachability and sensitivity to people's views on homos. Frankly, to pretend to do diplomacy with a bunch of homo is not going to get the respect of the arabs and manly slavs. That's the reason.

And oh, by the way, better one is a homophobe than a sexophobe about the opposit sex. At least the homophobe is color and sex blind, unlike the gays who like nazies with skin preferences have their own disgusting and murderous sex preferences agenda.

I do believe those things are illegal in most locales. Try it sometime and see if you skate.

Missing the point is probably not the best rhetorical strategy. You might want to scroll back through the thread.

My point is, what's the basis for keeping these things illegal, if it isn't morality?
