“I don't want to get into why it happened,” he said. “It was a decision I very much regret having made for many reasons.”

Yeah I bet. Like you regret exposing yourself for the anti-American scumbag you are.

“There is nothing that I can say that will make anybody understand the social context in which this occurred,” he said.

Yeah, the ignorant public could never understand the progressive culture of America hating leftists. Hah! We understand you all too well.

There was still lingering shock, anxiety and anger that Friday, he said. Seeing the flag in the hallway upset him, he added, and “stirred certain emotions in me.” He did not elaborate on what kinds of emotions he experienced.

We can only guess--anger at the audacity of someone to hang that emblem you hate in your Sociology Department. Loathing of the ignorant masses who actually revere what you consider a symbol of the most evil, racist, homosphobic county on earth. Am I getting warm?

I think it would be a great service is someone started an internet site with a database of all the America-hating commie professors who keep appearing like cockroaches out of the woodwork in these stories.

"“There is nothing that I can say that will make anybody understand the social context in which this occurred,” he said."--- No kidding.

Here's what my Alma Mater had to say about America this past Saturday at beautiful Kyle Field in College Station,TX:

Royce Singleton Ph. D.
Royce Singleton Ph. D.
Royce Singleton received his B.S. in psychology from Oklahoma State University in 1966 and his Ph.D. in sociology from Indiana University in 1973. Before joining the faculty at Holy Cross, he taught at the University of California, Riverside, from 1972-1977. His research and publications span social psychology, including work on group polarization and attribution theory, methodology, race relations, and undergraduate education. He is the co-author (with Bruce Straits) of Approaches to Social Research, 3rd ed. (1999) and of a chapter, "Survey Interviewing," in the forthcoming Handbook of Interviewing. Professor Singleton teaches courses primarily in social psychology and methods of social research, but also has taught race and ethnic relations and recently has offered courses in the sociology of sport.

There is nothing I can say to anybody that can explain the social context in which this occurred.

But there is, actually. In fact, it's fairly easy to articulate the stifling, lockstep anti-Americanism practiced quite openly on many, if not the majority of, American college campuses, by a faculty stuck in their self-absorbed adolescence and self-regarding, self-congratulatory conformity to what is drastically mistermed "dissent." This is the "diversity" that is worshipped, more mindless and drab than anything ever practiced in the Gray-Flannel-Suit 50s.

This is the McCarthyism of the tenure committee, and fifty years from now these little fascists will be remembered with the same horror they affect for the days of the blacklistings. And they will remain, as did their hero Alger Hiss, mendacious and unrepentant until the day they die.

,,, Royce is a parasite trying to "find himself". He may "find himself" in a place where US flags are burned if enough Americans can work it that way.

but he told her that displaying the flag would make some students uncomfortable.

---- there it is again, the insanity about people being "uncomfortable" at seeing our flag! If they're uncomfortable they should emigrate, preferably the sooner the better.

"...Royce Singleton, chairman of the college's Sociology Department, asked Mrs. Post, a secretary...to take it down...."

"Big Truth" contained in small fact.

"Sociology" is, by the way, a fake discipline which attracts men and women who would have, in another age, become flim-flam men and barkers at county carnivals.

“There is nothing that I can say that will make anybody understand the social context in which this occurred,” he said.

There's a reason you're at a loss for words, Mr. Singleton--your actions weren't justifiable.

"Social context"? Don't make me laugh. Professor vs. secretary is a workplace context, not a social one, and you were not equals. You knew that when you took her flag down, bully.

In the coming cultural and political struggle, I would happily take Mrs. Post and give the opposition the Sociology Department. The phantasm of the academic charlatans is going to evaporate. Solid patriotic secretarys have much more to teach than the anal retentive America-hating professors.

There was an organization that announced they would represent people who's rights were violated by being told they could not display an American Flag. I saw it posted in FR about a week ago - help me look and we'll get the info to them and Mrs. Post.

"...Royce Singleton, chairman of the college's Sociology Department, asked Mrs. Post, a secretary in the department, to take it down.

"She refused.

"He took it down, folded it and placed the flag on her desk, she said.

...

Mr. Singleton acknowledged ... he had taken the flag down,...

"'There is nothing that I can say that will make anybody understand the social context in which this occurred,' he said."

What, ho! We have a chairman of a department of sociology who cannot explain the social context in which some event in which he was involved occurred? Sounds to me as if old Royce is an incompetent buffoon -- and being incompetent is one of the few reasons for which a college can fire a tenured faculty member. Are there any Holy Cross alumni or trustees here?

I'm sure this guy wouldn't be worried about all the people who would be offended if some students burned an American flag. It is amazing how many people who are born here don't deserve such a blessing.

Why don't these milquetoast liberal "scholars" get it -- we are American, we are patriotic, and we don't give a rat's aXX if we offend anyone by displaying our national pride -- and our national mourning!!!

I hope the numerous similar incidents we have read about open the public's eyes to what is going on in our educational institutions. Maybe a backlash is coming on political correctness. My copy of the Bill of Rights does not say anything about a right not to be offended or made uncomfortable. My advice to these wimpy PC spoiled brats is to get over it.

Any alums of Holy Cross out there? How about withholding financial support?

If this were my alma mater I would be calling everyone I knew from my college days and urging them to write to the college President and withhold all financial support until this idiot were at least censured if not kicked out.

Can you imagine the ruckus if a conservative tore down one of the peacenicks banners because he was offended?
